Here is the page announcing Planet Coaster 2. There is a YouTube video also that shows off the game. I'll keep quiet here to give you all a chance to discover the surprises first for yourself.

I can't believe it took them this long. The first version had a lot of life, and you know they had to go back to the well eventually.

Here's hoping they do a Mac and/or Windows Arm version.

Never played it. Worth my time?

I am not sure why I never looked at the original. I guess I am out of luck as my computer just has an Intel Graphics 630.

Yes, it is worth your time. Really fun. It's not absolutely perfect, but it's not nearly as problematic as RCT3. This sequel might even fix some of the problems the first one had.

What kind of chip do you got in there, a Dorito?

It is an i3. Bought the computer back in 2019 for bills, finances, web. It does great at what I use it for after I upgraded it to 16GB Ram and a 1TB SSD. Also just put in a new power supply to keep it going for several more years hopefully.

I don't play computer games but Planet Coaster looked like it might be fun. Oh well, maybe when they come out with Planet Coaster 3 I can upgrade to a new computer.

My Windows laptop (of course I also have a Mac) is super new, a Core Ultra 9, with the built in GPU. When you turn all the graphics settings down, it's fine on a 13" screen. I also have a Lenovo Legion Go, the handheld, and that's the same thing with an even smaller screen. You can get by on a lot of games that way, and mostly what your give up is great lighting.

My Mac Mini with an M1 and 8GB of memory plays Planet Coaster just fine. I've never built a huge park though. I wanted the 16GB version when I bought it a few years ago, but Best Buy didn't have it, so I settled. That's the only problem I have with these Macs with the awesome new computer on a chip; you can't add memory. But they are so fast it doesn't really matter, for now anyway.

I also hope this is released with Mac support. I do own but don't play Planet Coaster very often, however I would like the ability to play the sequel. The games that I do play pretty frequently, Cities: Skylines and Prison Architect have both released sequels recently without Mac support. I was under the impression that it has never been easier to port games to Mac, but it's been said that developers don't want to support the 5% of players that are on Mac. Interestingly enough, the glimpses that are shown into these development studios, nearly all the coding, artwork and renderings are done on MacPros and MacStudios.

I'm not sure if it's easy to port games, but Apple built some bridging technology to at least give the developer an idea of where it could go. I was playing Against The Storm on one of my Macs using the Wine and the game porting kit (coordinated via Whiskey), and perf was pretty solid. It's the only thing I've ever done on it that warmed up the computer too, because if you think about it, it's translating both regular Intel code to Arm, and Direct3D to Metal. The problem is that, apparently if you do the math, the potential market share for Mac versions isn't high. I think that was based on some Steam statistics though, which doesn't make sense because that's a chicken/egg scenario.

I've been wanting to play Cities: Skylines 2 on my Mac ever since it came out. It's out for PS5, but I'm still trying to catch up on my games for my Switch and PS4, so I haven't got one of those yet.

I think Steam might be the answer. I'll check it out when I get a chance.

Edited to add: Nope. It's on Steam, but Cities: Skylines 2 only works on PC. Oh well.

CS2 is also on Game Pass. I get a lot of use out of that service.

I never owned an X-Box before. It's never been something I would consider using. I do pay for it in the end when I can't play certain games.

I have a relative who works at MSFT, so I get the annual "ultimate" variety which includes Xbox and Windows games. I'm playing through Fallout 4 (better late than never), and it'd be worth it just for that. Have knocked out some other things Jusant and Cocoon. I may get back to Starfield if I can pick up the main story that again (got bored on side things and don't know what the primary story is supposed to be).

I'd love to know what kind of hardware they use for those demos. Crazy high frame rates and detail distance. I wonder if my (almost new) laptop will be able to run this effectively. As it is, I may have to buy two copies of the game so Simon and I can play it at the same time. He's already obsessed.

The way I played PC1 on my mac was using geforce now, hoping to do the same for PC2. It's how I get around a few PC only games in my catalogue.
