Carowinds & Kings Dominion Removing Intimidator Theme from Rides

KD is still teasing their upcoming name change. Intimidator at Carowinds is going to be called... Thunder Striker. Hold for applause.

I’ve known about the thunder striker name for a few days now. I’m not too surprised, it’s generic but works ig on a budget

So we're back to the days of dumb names for Cedar Flags rides.

Seems like a lot of work when it'll just have to rebrand to Nitro or Superman in another year or two.

Really, just rename it hyper roller coaster 1. Theme it like the standard RCT entrance and exit and whatnot. The GP wouldn’t care one way or the other and the enthusiast crowd would get a kick out of it.

Could have just gone with Tall Hawk.

TBH when I head about this from my operator friend I thought he was kidding. Didn't realize until Carowinds formally announced it that he was being real. But I'm intrigued by the name

Should have renamed it "Intimator". Just remove a couple letters and be done with it.

Never mind that they already have a redneck themed coaster ending in a variation of “Strike.”

They’ve gone back to their generic naming conventions that they had when they took over the Taft parks Flight Deck, Stunt Coaster etc

They are getting especially lazy with their naming conventions. Reusing the word Strike. Like they reused Racer at KI.

I mean, next year it would be Superman: Thunder Striker.

At Carowinds it already was "Intimidator" without a numerical value. Dale's "Intimidator" moniker is still trademarked so I'm sure they want to avoid any potential legal issues / licensing fees.

Im curious how many of the GP get the orchard truck and basket theming at Twisted Timbers? And understand there midway is called Apple Grove?

A friend of mine just sent me this news and at first glance I thought it was being removed or something. Losing the NASCAR theme? Cool. Never gave a crap about it in the first place.

But at least you cared less enough about NASCAR to care.
