The Beast reprofile will extend its length by two feet

From the Kings Island blog:

Kings Island’s world-famous roller coaster, The Beast, will break its own World Record in 2022. The ride, which opened in 1979 as the World’s Longest Wooden Roller Coaster, has held that distinction ever since. When it opens for the season in May it will break its own record by two feet, from 7,359 feet to 7,361 feet due to offseason retracking and reprofiling work, that also includes a steeper first drop.

Steel Vengeance has a ridiculously long mid-course, and I don't see anyone complain about it. Although, they might welcome the short reprieve.

That's fair. The RMC's with mid-courses / second lifts I've ridden (NTG, Colossus) have been "fine" because there's plenty of meat on the bone after. For whatever reason, I can't think of any B&M that does something exciting after the MCBR, though I guess Kraken and Montu come close. And I realize this is super enthusiass-like.

There are three things I've learned never to discuss with people... "Religion, politics and the Beast or Magnum... If you don't have a favorable opinion of them".

You are just lucky that you make some killer smoked meats and have such a fun home bar setup in your basement. Because your opinions on both Magnum and Beast are truly unforgivable.

SV’s second half is arguably as wild as the the first especially when it’s warm and might be as long?

Raptor comes to mind as being good.

Hulk’s has to be the worst of them all though.

I think Rougarou's second half is pretty good.

I think the "plot" (I would use the word "narrative", but same thing really) of a ride is really important. It's one of the reasons I include Disneyland's Space Mountain on my favorites list. (Or for that matter, the Cedar Creek Mine Ride.) And it's definitely one reason I love The Beast.

I’ll second Raptor as being well paced and having the goods after the MCBR. Gatekeeper, on the other hand…yeah. They’d have been better off without the dumb helix right after the “mid course” brake, just before the main brake.

And The Beast’s second drop, double helix finale is untouchable.

By the way, does anyone get annoyed when they see it written as “The Beast,” kinda like those snobby Buckeyes insisting their university be called The Ohio State? 😜

Every time I post about it, I waffle between "the Beast" and "The Beast". The capital T just seems more appropriate, the name isn't complete without "The". Can you imagine someone saying "Let's go ride Beast"?

(I once had someone ask me if the name of the state was "The Ohio".)

As soon as I finish my errands at Costcos and Meijers I'll meet you at Cedar Point! I hear you can see Canada from The Magnum on a clear day, and The Raptor and The Mantis go upside down!

I'd argue that the name of the ride is "The Beast." because it's in the logo. "The" is in the title of the ride. It's what it is called, so it is capitalized.

I'll shorten it to Beast, without the The, if I am being less formal, or mumbling, or whatever. But the correct title is The Beast. The T is capitalized because that's the name of the ride.

I mean, it's disrespectful to not capitalize the T. (kidding.)

The late Ruth Voss, PR head at KI at the time of The Beast’s construction and its early years, always refered to it as “this Beast” when referencing it while in line. A unique distinction.

as referenced above, the word “the” is in the logo, so it’s part of the name

^Thank you for bringing up Ruth Voss. She was a real sweetheart and a class act; she'd talk to everyone and was down to earth. They used to let coaster club people in to line up for The Beast before the crowd got back there. Sometimes Ruth would be around and say hi.

I could be mistaken... but didn't the wonderful Paula Werne from Holiday World know Ruth? Paula, another class act.

I was at Kings Island over the weekend and we were planning on riding The Beast towards the end of the day like normal. Then a storm rode in and we missed our chance. Thankfully I'm going back a few more times this year to experience The "new" Beast!
