From the Kings Island blog:
Kings Island’s world-famous roller coaster, The Beast, will break its own World Record in 2022. The ride, which opened in 1979 as the World’s Longest Wooden Roller Coaster, has held that distinction ever since. When it opens for the season in May it will break its own record by two feet, from 7,359 feet to 7,361 feet due to offseason retracking and reprofiling work, that also includes a steeper first drop.

I wish Hard Rock Park were still around so they could theme a ride after one of my favorite '80s bands, The The.

^Thank you for bringing up Ruth Voss. She was a real sweetheart and a class act; she'd talk to everyone and was down to earth. They used to let coaster club people in to line up for The Beast before the crowd got back there. Sometimes Ruth would be around and say hi.
Ruth was a gem, and more than just "be around and say hi", she would often ride along for that first train of the morning. She said "it helped her arthritis". She was one of the early examples of a Park PR team embracing the enthusiast community.
Thank you CreditWh0re for mentioning Screamin' Demon. Loved that thing. It was terrifying going up those stairs into that steel cage, with all that creepy Arrow-hollow-ass-squeek-and-humm noise and shake. Charm city.
^I also remember Ruth being there for the opening (or media day?) for Adventure Express. We were invited through ACE and Ruth ended up getting injured on the ride; the curves were too aggressive with hard plastic seat sides.
I watched a video of The New Beast pov and it's clear the profile was changed going into tunnel #2 (the one after The Shed.) The tunnel entrance is at an increased angle with a bit of an apex, looks great. I wonder what type of wood Gravity Group uses on the track? The train is picking up very fast between brakes. The first drop is more of a "mountain" like American Eagle at the increased angle (another underrated drop).

Oh yeah, that was frightening, especially with a long line where you were waiting in that staircase forever. then getting to the top and being exposed on that platform 50+ feet in the air. It was totally unnerving back in the day.
While on the topic of Arrow shuttle loops, I have heard that the Sidewinder at Elitch Gardens won't make the trip to the new location when (or is it if?) the park moves to their third location.
Dave Dragon, go Dave Dragon, and the Star Force Five!

Don’t forget to check out Vortex, Tomb Raider, Tumble Bug, and Skylab when you go back next month.
Phantom Theater is coming "back" as a live show, so you will be able to check that one out, in a way. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/entertainment/phantom-theater-encore
That's pretty cool. I bet it's pretty good too. Cedar Fair has been producing some really good shows.
They did an amazing job with this ride. It’s running the best I have ever ridden it. It’s amazing.
Ill say it: KI threw a better 50th then WDW. Racer looks great, runs better, and that firework and drone show is amazing. Best non Disney theme park show I’ve seen. I gave up a true Beast night ride to see it, and I’m going to do it again tomorrow.
2022 Trips: WDW, Sea World San Diego & Orlando, CP, KI, BGW, Bay Beach, Canobie Lake, Universal Orlando
