Well, I did say your organ was limited.

Valuable? Not so much.

Brett, not sure what part of Florida you are in. But, there is no question different parts of the state were handling this differently early on.

Little if any mask wearing was going on in Tallahassee but masks are still pretty common in SE Florida. My point was...the "good" numbers in Florida can easily be explained by the populous areas being more stringent about this. So, when people point to "Free" Florida and the fact that our Covid numbers are "middle of the road" for the country...I counter that, had the denser areas been as flippant about this as the north...we'd have had a tougher hand. DeSantis gets to profess his leadership of a "free" state...only some of which (generally the least populous areas) was actually free of regulation...while not being in the spotlight for being one of the states with worse statistics.

Omicron has crested the top-hat here in Ohio.

Based on the State’s onset-adjusted data, Ohio peaked on January 3, with our 7-day average peaking on January 8. The State likes to use the 21-day average, but I find the 7-day average is much more responsive and a lot closer to the actual daily numbers.

Apologies, but I haven’t updated the graph I keep online in a while.

So how does this happen? Covid Hits Kiribata

54 people are all vaccinated, are tested 3 times before they get to the island, are quarantined when they get to the island, and are all tested again. And somehow after they are "released", more than half of them have Covid.

Am I reading something wrong? Is the testing bad? Is it possible to be a carrier and still test negative? What am I missing?

Never open the door. Or your borders.

The island opened it's borders this month, so it's possible that this particular plane full of Mormons is not the source, but rather the passengers are just part of bad timing and coincidence. And Omicron is not very impressed by the vaccines with regards to transmission.

I mean, is it any shock the place that tried to pretend they could avoid it forever is suddenly seeing a lot of cases a month after opening their borders....during the absolute worst time to open your door?

Nothing much new here, but a good thousand foot view. Particularly of interest is the fact that hospitals are, in fact, full. Hopefully this will burn out quickly and will give a much high baseline of lasting immunity in the population.

I like that they point out that the percentages are better, but they make it up in volume (Covid is the Six Flags of viruses). It's also, still, mostly the unvaccinated. I hope everyone understands that we will all pay for this by way of higher insurance costs.

By every metric other than the lagging hospitalization and death numbers, we're already riding the downside of the Omicron wave.

Don't eat the yellow snow

Maybe horse urine would be a better choice given that horse dewormer is a "cure"?

What does it say about a person that they would sooner drink their own piss than get a vaccine used by 250 million Americans?
