All that

Just today, after Cedar Point Winter Chillout sold out in 1 minute (yet again) somebody was quick to blame the price jump from $50 to $65 on "Sleepy Joe's inflation."

It's literally a charity fundraiser.

The charity likely needs more money to achieve their mission due to inflation...

Am I the only one who learned about supply and demand in fifth grade?

I can assure you that no matter what you observe from Amazon trucks, they're getting stuff delivered in the most efficient way possible. It's the biggest cost lever that they can control. It's why they're buying shipping containers and airplanes and chartering ships. They're a logistics company and cloud provider, not a retail company.

And delivery is apparently so efficient and better margin that Kroger is entering new markets (including Orlando) as delivery only, no stores.

Not to put words in his mouth, but I don't think Tommy was questioning the existence of inflation, just how tragically ignorant one would have to be to blame it on the President.

Couldn’t stay away. Someone wanted a risk calculator. Apparently it was used last year by the UK’s NHS to determine who to vaccinate first.

Blaming inflation on Biden sounds as ignorant as blaming Desantis for Covid. Regardless, there’s going to come point before Biden is out of office where the inflation rate eclipses his approval rating.

No one is blaming DeSantis for Covid, they're blaming him for his response, which has largely gotten in the way of municipalities and school districts from making their own decisions.

But he did help parents make their own decisions for their kids…there’s that…

I don't think Biden could singlehandedly create inflation if he tried, but he does seem to question its existence.

I know that Florida, under Desantis’ leadership, fared no better or worse with Covid than any of the other 49 states when looked at from almost every (every?) measurement. It would be ignorant to continue believing anything Desantis, or the other governors, did with respect to covid was inherently and objectively better or worse.

But just as there are those who want to blame inflation on Biden, there are those who want to blame Desantis for an average (better than average?) Covid outcome.

I don’t particularly care for Desantis anyhow…except to note that the partisan attacks on his response don’t reconcile with the Covid outcomes. We should all be happy that Florida’s outcomes weren’t anywhere close to what Desantis’ naysayers predicted when he kept those beaches open.

Florida has a geriatric leaning population that was well vaccinated early on, and doesn't have winter to deal with. Given what we know now, Florida should have fared better than most every state.

But keep talking yourself into the uselessness of mitigation. Maybe you can tell the folks at our hospitals, which are filled again.

I think hospitals being filled is great evidence of the failures of any mitigation attempts.

Or great evidence of a real lack of trying any mitigation.

Or YOU could tell the folks at “filled” Omicron hospitals in the other 49 states too.

The “geriatric” population in Florida is the strongest argument that Florida should have fared worse than most every state. Finishing in the middle of the pack could actually be commendable. I might be too modest calling their results “average.”

Maybe Desantis’ foresight with the monoclonal antibodies deserves some credit too.

But I’ve no doubt than late June/July when Floridians head inside to escape humidity…their cases will spike and the partisans will blame Desantis again. Dunking on states when it is their “turn” has been the most remarkable sociological response of the past 2 years.

At the beginning of this…we made fun of the guy who said, “A virus is gonna virus!”

Given what we know now, that guy doesn’t seem so stupid. After all, who wouldn’t prefer “average results” with open beaches to “average results” with vaccine passports and closed schools?

Yes, an expensive antibody treatment administered by IV makes way more sense than just getting vaccinated and not having the disease in the first place. 🤦‍♂️ Willful ignorance, dude. You've got it.

Lab created antibodies: bring them on...no questions asked...why hasn't the government made these available sooner?

Lab created vaccine: never...I may grow a tail...the government can't tell me what to do.

This message endorsed by the same people who don't think exercise will help them lose weight but would gladly take any number of pills that promise weight loss.

Were you not aware that vaccines do next to nothing to stop transmission of Omicron? And the best treatment to keep patients out of those overcrowded hospitals is monoclonal antibodies?

Maybe Vanderbilt University Medical Center and all those other hospital chains are being willfully ignorant too. Or maybe partisans have let their hatred for Ron Desantis cloud reasonable judgement…?

Speaking of ignorance. Hawaii currently has the most Covid hospitalizations per capita than any other state. Maybe it’s the harsh winters?

Edit to add that DC is actually worse than Hawaii today. If only they had restricted harder…
