They didn’t seem to take any issue with the Travel Channel show when it aired. There’s a special place in my heart for the original Schlitterbahn, but gosh they’re screwing up the messaging here. Designing a ride without proper engineering oversight and (allegedly) operating it under unsafe circumstances isn’t an “accident,” it’s malpractice.
The indictment uses quoted statements from a reality TV show that was scripted for dramatic effect that in no way reflects the design and construction of the ride.
Quotes were purported to be from definitive design meetings, when they were, in fact, “acting.”
This is the one thing that makes me lean in their direction a bit. You can't take "reality" tv as fact. Overall though, still looks pretty bad.
Hi
Can it possibly get any worse for Jeff Henry and Schlitterbahn?

They arrested the designer of the slide, John Schooley, today and are charging him with second-degree murder among other lesser crimes.

It was just a matter of time until this became part of the narrative.
The beginning of the end. If they start defaulting on debt service payments, access to capital and lines of credit dry up and the company is ripe for liquidation or buyout. Murder and manslaughter cases cost a fortune to defend and that is all going to further stress their financial situation. I think their days are numbered, unfortunately.
