Technically there were two different theme park builders released last week—Planet Coaster, our main concern for this review, being one. The other was RollerCoaster Tycoon World ($35 on Steam), which I don’t think is quite as bad as the reputation it’s racked up on Steam but does seem to have been rushed out the door in some weird attempt to “beat” Planet Coaster to the punch... Planet Coaster is the true successor to the beloved RollerCoaster Tycoon.

While there may have been some truth at one time that Macs are more often used for the arts and PCs for "everyday use" (even though you originally said they were for "leisure and play"), to say the same is true anymore is an extremely broad generalization and no longer accurate. Many of my coworkers use Macs, and most of those folks are software developers. Only two employees I can recall use them for design (and of those two, one's main roles are project manager and technical writer).
And some of the professional studios I've recorded in have used PCs.
My brother works for Google as an engineer and a couple years ago they forbid anyone from coding on a Windows machine (I guess there was some security problem). Mac and Linux were the primary choices and I think Mac was majority.

That seems kind of arbitrary and stupid. When I worked at Microsoft, you could actually put your own computers on the network, Mac or Windows. Nothing bad happened.

They added winter features, but more importantly, they made major tweaks to all of the management screens. You no longer have to spawn a bunch of windows to do basic stuff like start training workers or giving them raises, open or close things, change prices, etc. They finally have a price sync checkbox for stores, too.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm surprised at how much I like the game. I can't believe it's the same developer that built the steaming pile of crap that was RCT3.

Makes me wonder how much Atari is to blame for RCT 3's shortcomings. They clearly meddled and mismanaged RCT World into a hot mess so it wouldn't be surprising to hear that they screwed with the prior installment as well. Maybe it's just me, but Planet Coaster comes off as Frontier saying "this is the game *we* wanted to make."
Very encouraged by the feedback as well as Frontier's continued support and effort to improve the game already. Can't wait to play it myself.
I have to ask, because I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere: are there arcade and/or carnival games? It's hard to believe that all these park sim games have come along over the years without one of them including that element (that I'm aware of) when it's such a big part of the real amusement park experience.

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone post any screencaps of their planet coaster stuff on here yet. I got the game a couple weeks ago but haven't had time really to fire it up until today. I wouldn't know where to post though; the two gaming forums are dedicated.

Most of my development work is Windows based, and I feel like I'm always having to fix something in Windows. I never have to fiddle with MacOS. Windows 10 is definitely a step in the right direction, but between the constant updating and network issues (that's what is always breaking for me), I still wouldn't give it to my mother.
