Six Flags Magic Mountain's Colossus catches fire, suffers damage to lift hill

Well, that's a very unexpected delay.

No excuses. Six Flags should have planned for this. ;)

News of this story has just been updated! The cause has finally been determined.

Seriously though, Magic Mountain announced on their webpage that "Plans for the spring debut of Twisted Colossus are still on track."

Even they are getting in on all the joking. lol

I guess Magic Mountain got their Fireball early.

So, pretty much someone was torching/cutting out old track and didn't make sure they killed off any embers before going home for the day?

In terms of construction, it doesn't seem serious enough to cause any *major* delays. Let's just hope the state of California doesn't come in and make this a true nightmare of a project for RMC and SFMM.

SFMM posted to their FB page that the fire wasn't going to cause delays with regard to the RMC conversion. Seemed to be a little premature to me, given the fire had been out for mere minutes at that point, but hey....
