Six Flags Great America announces Goliath roller coaster

That last inversion looks like some severe OMG upside-downness.

The "inverted zero g stall" in the POV made me stop and say "WTF was that?!"

What an awful press release. It's so filled with superlatives and mis-information.

"tallest"

Well, the drop is the longest, but traditionally "tallest" means the highest point of the ride. Usually this and drop height go hand in hand.

"record-breaking speeds of up to 72 mph"

True, it will be the fastest wooden coaster when it opens, but does it count as record breaking when a wooden coaster went 78 mph over a decade ago? I mean, SOB is gone now but...

"first-of-its-kind"

Looks like it will be a Rocky Mountain Construction project, so Outlaw Run must not exist?

Don't get me wrong, this looks like a great ride. It doesn't need superlatives ad nauseum to make it a great ride.

Who cares about a press release, World Record facts or any facts at all!! its a new THRILL COASTER for 2014!! Yippie!! Lets RIDE!! .. lol ok so I'm excited a little bit, hate me later its my home park!

So here's how the press release should have read:

"This ride is the tits, bitches!"

She said that there were only two others like it, I'm assuming she's talking about Outlaw Run and Hades 360, but isn't there also Iron Rattler at SFFT or is that one considered steel due to it's track construction, or is this another point that she got wrong.

I'm probably in the minority, but I was bummed to see Iron Wolf leaving. I guess it's only fair that something equally as intense or better gets planted in it's spot- just like it's only fair that Antique Cars, Splashwater Falls, and the County Fair Stage were replaced by something of a similar intensity.

The first drop on Raging Bull is the best on a steel coaster that I've ridden- Goliath looks like it could be it's wooden counterpart, which would make it a great success even if they decided to design a U-Turn immediately following the drop right into a brake run and the station. Instead, they've packed a bunch of filth and sickness into remaining length of trackage. I really look forward to this.

Six Flags Mexico Rocky Mountained Medusa- that one looks like quite the treat as well. As great as these reimagined (Rocky Mountained) large wooden coasters look- I hope they don't go after Boss in SFStL.

What bothers me is this: I can only do one major trip a year. Between Universal opening up the new Harry Potter area, this in Chicago, and IR and NTG in Texas close to Dallas Stadium (our plans were to go to a game and let me go ride some coasters as well), how do I choose between such awesomeness?! :)

Any thoughts on the NTG rider ejection and conflicts with all the new RMC rides? Especially if the hybrid ones are getting Gerstlauer trains? Obviously Six Flags doesn't have a problem with it, and I don't see a problem either, but I'm curious as to what everyone thinks about the possible publicity issues this could present.

2014's shaping up to a great year for new coasters. This ride looks incredible!

My only complaint is that I wish the anchor guy was right and the ride was going to be called "Gladiator." The Goliath name really needs to be freaking retired already, it's so overused.

Dude! You complained about the ride constantly after it leaked. Calm down. What happened to too short?

Quit Stalking me! ... lol, hey so the promo "video" is better than the leaked layout, people convert to other religions all the time, i'm on the wagon now!!

No way, those red lines on paper were way more exciting than the stupid realistic animated video.

I liked it, but I don't think it will become "best ever" of anything. It looks quite short in length, and though it looks intense, I'm not that impressed. I'd take a Voyage type ride any day over this thing.

These RMC creations are simply amazing. And this ride looks insanely good.
