This thing has SUCKED since Cedar Fair took it over...not that Paramount had it up and running 24 7 but when it was working with all the themeing running, it was GREAT!

Sadly my last 3 attempts at riding this, 2 of them we had to evacuate after being seating, and my final ride evolved one swing without going upside down, and then the ride stopped and we had to do again a mechanical failure exit.

I am not upset about this. The Crypt has been a pretty terrible ride the last few years. I wish something amazing and unique would take it's spot, like perhaps a traditional log flume. ;)

But a traditional log flume wouldn't be unique... ;)

Considering all the changes to the ride, cycle, and theming, this ride had a pretty eventful life and death in 10 years.

Good memories of BeastBuzz on that ride, particularly the one where we had the automatic e-stop while at the top, upside down.

Glad I got to ride it as Tomb Raider, but upset I didn't get to ride it after I had Lazik. Couldn't see a darn thing.

But a traditional log flume wouldn't be unique...

At the rate they are being torn out, it very well might!

Brian got the point. Add that to the fact that one was removed in order to build Tomb Raider in the first place...

Count me in the canoe ride camp. Those things were super rare. And then KI replaces theirs with a flume ride. Bah Humbug;)

It is all relative.

I got to ride it 3 times over the summer and our flip flops dropped to the ground mid ride and it was the biggest hassle getting them back. Hopefully they completely tear it down after this year.

Im sure they can get enough in scrap metal to pay for a FLYER IN A BOX!

I'm actually pretty surprised they made this decision before SOB.

Hope it's not the last disaster of a Cedar-Fair owned ride in Ohio with theming that has been left to deteriorate that gets closed.

Hey! Maybe they can re-mold the scrap metal into topper track for SOB!

OhioStater, it isn't about deteriorated theming, it's about a ride system that has become the most reliable ride in the park: you could count on it to fail, often while loaded and frequently in an awkward position. The other ride you allude to can pump ten riders through every thirty seconds all day long without taking a break. Not much to look at, but it's got it where it counts.

Even if it was tame, I still loved The Crypt and all of its uniqueness. I'm sad to see another major flat go.

I won't miss the Crypt, but I will still miss Tomb Raider. That was a pretty cool ride experience, and the preshow was halfway decent as well.

Well they mention using it next for a Halloween haunt experience. But it is a good sized building and could house part or all of an indoor-type coaster.

^^^ I know it's comparing apples to...well...asparagus. But saying DT is not "much to look at" is an understatement. What you can't see is entirely the problem. But let's not get too distracted here. :)
