Kings Island Closes "The Crypt (Formerly Tomb Raider the Ride)"

Count me in the canoe ride camp. Those things were super rare. And then KI replaces theirs with a flume ride. Bah Humbug;)

It is all relative.

(perhaps I'm missing the sarcasm here, but...) The Kings Island Canoes were removed to put in The Beast, not Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal, right?

That was my understanding as well.

I wanted to type:

*facepalm*

but it felt too mean for the situation.

Yeah, you guys missed the joke/sarcasm/mockery/point.

Yep. The canoes were removed for Beast. The log flume was removed for Tomb Raider. I have (or had) an old map of the park without Beast at one time.

The canoe ride was, in retrospect over many decades, not very fun. It was surprisingly hard work--pretty much exactly like rowing eights. Though the island with the Indian props was rather cool.

Well the end was fun. They would ask who had a good time and to show it you put your paddle straight up. At that point the water in it came gushing out on you. Then they say, whoever got wet had a good time!

Wow, I had forgotten that part.

Swiss company abc rides has an interesting concept they call a vertical dark ride, basically a frog hopper style ride that rotates or moves throughout the building, lifting or dropping riders from scene to scene. Here it is if you haven't seen it, looks like fun.

Doesn't Vekoma have a similar concept called "Pandora's Box" or something like that?

I found this on the internets. Its all the music from tomb raiders glory days.

There was definitely something very Disney-esque about Tomb Raider. I remember the bright spot lights they used during loading which made it nearly impossible to see what else was in the room, or how big the chamber really was. Those rotating arms were massive.
