A proposal for a new theme park at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville is expected to be on the agenda of the Metro Council. The Council is holding its first meeting of the new term Tuesday night. Among the 70 items on the agenda is a plan that would require the Board of Fair Commissioners to gather proposals for a new theme park.

I don't get the sarcasm is there some sort of history with this? The Nashville region is one of the fastest growing places in the country. It's a logical place for a new theme park.
"The term is 'amusement park.' An old Earth name for a place where people could go to see and do all sorts of fascinating things." -Spock, Stardate 3025
At least they built something there. From what I hear, a certain park in Houston was demolished a while back with nothing to show for its demise. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Astrodome,+Houston,+TX&hl=en&ll=29.676513,-95.406475&spn=0.011988,0.013518&sll=40.807573,-73.834305&sspn=0.334184,0.432587&vpsrc=6&hnear=Astrodome,+Houston,+Harris,+Texas&t=h&z=16

What that leads me to infer is that the Houston park removal made sense. Nothing has moved into the area since. If it were a viable location for successful business, surely someone would have capitalized on the opportunity.

Hey! that reminds me, I'm going to Great Adventure tomorrow night, but the closest hotel I could find was 25 minutes away.
;)

You won't also be around Saturday, will you? I'll probably be there for several hours in the morning/mid-afternoon.
If you weren't joking, that is. When hotels and Great Adventure are involved on this site, it's hard to tell...

Exactly. :)
I was under the impression that they were planning to make more money with condos or something. Was Astroworld really struggling? With the exception of parking, it seemed like a perfect place for an entertainment venue. The location doesn't seem to be keeping the Astro fans (are there any?) away. Then again, I've never been to one, so I couldn't tell you how well they are attended (and I'm too lazy to Google). I just wish they would bring back thier 70's uniforms.

Yeah, the J.R. Richard era. Those were neat. I see those retro jerseys occasionally.
