more than 90 degree drop

Is there any coaster that drops a full 90? Don't say Oblivion, because it drops at 87.5 or so. What is the name of the other 90 degree coaster,I
think there are two.

No. You are not thrown outward on MF.

It would defintly be possible for a coaster to have more than a 90degree drop. All it is, is like coming out of a loop. Theres no extreme forces or anything. Every time you ride a coaster with a loop you are coming out of 90+degree drop.

I want to see a coaster like MF's symbol!

No they aren't, man. Sure, there are 3 sets of wheels (like almost every coaster), but there are still gaps between the wheels like eariler Vekomas. I was disappointed when I saw that on X flight a few days ago. (Vekoma is improving, but when will they get rid of those wheel gaps and bad transitions?)

Over the shoulder restraints can handle positive G's, hence, they can handle a +90 drop. Look at spin'n'spews, mainly the Huss topspin. This can activate the brakes on the Gondola, when you are upright at the top. Then you can experience a 360 loop under negative G. It might give you a nosebleed, but its not that uncomfortable on the shoulders.
The tilt coaster IS a worry, if the brakes fail while its tilting, if the 2 track sections dont align exactly, I'd ride it but I'd be anxious.....
The 2nd vertical coaster was G5, or 5G, or 3G or something, a B&M in Taiwan, identical to Oblivion, but without going underground, so you have to climb loads of stairs to get to it!!

you could start it with an ordinary drop(the right way up) and then it could twist whilst going down the drop. This is unlikely though so one like Oblivion would be more likely. It could have a very slow start with a small radius until u r upside down and then a large pull out from the hill. I think it will happen.

Also i agree with the point that the tilt coaster isn't safe (although i would still ride it!!). What if the brakes fail whilst it is being tilted? It would just drop to the ground with no track to continue on.

It would be like an inverted inverter.

Giavanola are going something like 92 in order to give all seats of the car a view of the floor. Also Giavanola are doing a twist and tilt, as it's tilting it also twists 90 which gives endless possibilities such as two tracks going in opposite directions!

I thought they were done with coasters.

It could be done granted you have short cars like on Hypersonic XL.

You mean this is the same thing as the latter half of a loop.

This is simple people, we basically already have coasters that do this, looping ones. This is so possible.

I think it is possible. BTW, I think Delay-Ja Vu is 90° isn't it? It would be cool to go more than vertical. I don't think it would put too much stress on the body. Just wait til' Rideman respeonds. He will show all you doubters. ;)

No, a +90-degree drop is NOT like the last half of a loop. In a loop, the angle would start at 180 and go down to 0. In a +90-degree drop, the angle would start at 0 and go to +90. This would mean the G-force would be reversed. You would have quite a negative G-force in the back of the train (not good.) I think the force may also have the effect of pulling you out of your lap bar (you would fall out.)

What are you guys talking about? Why would it be dangerous? Of course it's possible, and you definitely wouldn't need a OTSR.

You'd get a negative G experience as the hill on MF, just a stronger one. Then when you're actually tilted inward while going down the hill, the restraint is so safe that it would hold you in with no pain, (like there would be any pain anyway), besides you're in and out of the element so fast that it wouldn't matter. Why do you guys think this would be so dangerous? As long as there is a big enough pull out, it would be fine.

As for the tilt coaster, I'm sure there is a fail safe just as on any coaster. If the coaster lost power while being tilted, I'm sure it would either shutdown in it's current condition, complete the tilting action, or have a gas-powered backup.

I was really suprised to see the gaps on X-Flight, Batwing and Reptar. As far as I can tell (from looking and the actual rides) the Invertigos (Two-Face, Face/Off) have all wheels in simultaneous contact and are headbang free.

Anyway on the subject of the 90 degree thing, there are THREE (actually FOUR) coasters RIGHT NOW that *occasionally* drop riders at an angle greater than 90 degrees. All the Intamin Impulse coasters sway on their towers. The sway isnt much, but it is noticeable from the ground. I dont think it's more than five degrees max, but if a train is released at the moment of maximum deflection, then they are dropped greater than 90 degrees. Think about it!
