So, B&M finally done it... 4D Style.

Being built at Gardaland, called X-Raptor.

http://sondaggi.gardaland.it/sondaggioXRAPTOR15-24.php

You have to "vote" to see the announcement.

Some stats:

- Underground Station
- 800m long (2,624ft)
- 30m tall (98ft)
- 90° Turn
- Interaction with surrounding objects
- Will go over water with effects
- 2 zero gravity elements

Very interesting! I hope B&M can pull it off... Not confirmed yet if seats are spinning or stationary.

I have no idea how, or for what, I voted. But it does look quite cool.

I hope that the seats spin. If B&M can do a controlled spin like X, I think we could definitely see more of these. I just don't see the point in wing seating for no other purpose (Like Furious Bacco), because that really doesn't do much of anything that a floorless can't do.

The seats will not spin or rotate on this ride.

Boo! I really don't understand what that does for the coaster. Granted, I'm not complaining about this particular one, I haven't rode it, but I do wish they'd come up with something that had spinning seats.

Edit: I'd read about this on Screamscape, where it also said the train wouldn't spin when they first got the rumor. I guess I just wish more 4D coasters would catch on.

Clint - the seats won't rotate on this ride. Doesn't mean future versions will feature static seats.

Poor website. Its poll is being destroyed by american enthusiasts who are messing up with the poll results b/c we just want to see the ride concept and will not spend the time to turn the poll into english :)

From what Babel Fish could translate, I think the first question was asking if you know what a roller coaster is. If you click "no" it goes right to the concept art. If you click "si" it gives you a bunch of options, like "an airplane," "an attraction that through mechanical effects makes the rollover feeling," and something about topological features of Russian mountains, which is what I selected.

The text above the concept art said that "roller coaster" is the English translation for "switchback/Russian mountains," but I'm wondering if maybe they're saying it's the English equivalent of those terms. I believe some European languages use the term "Russian mountains" for these rides, which would explain why an Italian page was asking if the user knew what a "roller coaster" was.

The buttons underneath were asking how apt the name X-Raptor is for this ride, then the next question asked if just Raptor would be better. After that it thanked me for my time and provided a link to a coupon for 6 Euros off admission. :)

So basically this is just B&M's take on Intamin's Furius Baco.

I'm leaning towards believing (stop! wait! nooo!) screamscape on this one. I quote:

Screamscape said:

I’ve heard that [B&M] may very well want to produce their own version of the 4D concept, complete with spinning seats, but wanted to build a non-spinning prototype version of the train first. The goal here is to not only perfect a new train/track pairing design, but to also gather all the practical G-force and Accelerometer data [possible] from this new train deisgn before trying to implement...spinning seats.

[/possible][/B&M]

...which, having seen B&M's hesitancy over the years to embrace anything new until they know that they can deliver an industry-leading product, sounds pretty believable.

I'm not personally sold on the wingwalker seating configuration sans-rotation as a 'feature' considering the limitations it puts on a ride's possible element selection, but I'm quite looking forward to seeing the first truly envelope-pushing concept from B&M in quite some time come to fruition. Will definitely be following this one.

Where exactly does it say it's going to be an B&M? Could it just be another Intamin with misleading concept art?

The park has stated to various coaster groups they've hosted at the park recently that it would be a B&M project, they just didn't say what kind of coaster it was.

Word is that the outer seats on Furious Baco rattle you pretty good as do the ones on X2. Wonder if B&M will have solved this issue in any way

In Spanish, I believe the phrase for a roller coaster is "Montana Rusa."

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Of course Furious Baco is the coaster that caused that girl to fall out of her top. I wouldn't mind a bit more of that.

The outer seats on their dive machines don't bounce around, and they're a good ways out from the track. Different configuration to be sure, but B&M are the kings of solid.
