Why didn't SFAdv make Nitro bigger?

If you go to ridezone.com, and go under the Nitro photos, you can see that Nitro is in a forest. There is a LOT OF OPEN SPACE. Do you think that Six Flags Great Adventure should of made Nitro 300 feet plus!? I think they should of gone for a world record.

If "they" did, it could of been the first Giga-coaster from B&M.

According to Jeff, CP approached B&M about constructing MF and told them that was to tall of a structure that they were willing to build. I dont see why since MF is up that all other tall coasters should be 300ft. Plus I am willing to bet that alot of parks are in towns or villages that wont allow that height. If Intamin cost 25 million to construct can you imagine how much it would be for B&M to build it?

Yes, B&M didn't want, and still does not want to build a coaster that is taller than 300 ft.

NITRO is awesome the way it is. It's a great coaster and it proves that bigger does not mean better. NITRO is a great coaster and doesn't need to be bigger.

I heard that B&M will build a Giga-coaster at SFEG.

Actually, Nitro is tucked in between employee housing, and the 'lake'. It fits the footprint good, and is just what the park can handle.

Rides do not need to be bigger to be best(I.E. The Raven, The Legend)

CP'S Giga is definately awesome, but they all dont have to be that way.

You can have a world class coaster that is only 50ft high

I thought i remember hearing that b&m wont build coasters over a certain height because they like there two pole supports. But i didnt really believe it because of how they can strengthen them by adding more supports or just making there supports look like intamins.

Yeah, mos def, everything does not have to be big. Look at Mean Streak, its huge and you see the negative response from it. Even Alpingueist (sp?) falls to its smaller version Raptor. I think Nitro is tight. God you must get a lot of air on that thing

Coasters- a little slice of heaven

You must realize they are only a few miles away from an air force base. They have a minor height restriction. This is why they have not gone above the level mandated by the Government.

Alpengeist falls to Raptor? Alpengeist gives dratically a different feel than any other inverted I've had to ride, that's messed up, another case where just big enough is right enough. Probally the same case as Nitro, nothing on Nitro looks too much different than the other speeding B&Ms, same case as the B&M inverts, what came out early 90s is basically the same as thier newest, 'cause that's what they make. B&M has to make something different to have something else, in other words, when and if they come up with something, it will be something else. To think that the guys at B&M wouldn't want to go over 300 is crazy(not crazy, but you know what I'm saying), you know they want to do it(I would want to do it, so would you if you could build 'em:)), you can't help it if you like some good coasters, it's a good kind of race to take part in, maybe they'll build THE coaster 15 years from now.......

Ah yes, somebody finally remembered that little thing we call zoning. You can't just build a coaster as high as you want. You have to get community approval, and local government approval, and airspace approvals, etc. Believe it or not, not everyone wants a 300ft. tall (or taller) object in their sightlines. Unbelievable I know, but it's true.

Actually, B&M is willing to build giga coasters. It was just the cost. I agree, B&M's cost ALOT, but the parks also get alot: Safety checks, ultra-smooth ride, etc. etc.

As I have heard, Cedar Point acted like a "Wanted" post in the Classifieds. B&M approached CP and said "I can do you the 300 ft tall coaster with 45 degrees lift. Our price would be $40 million."

THEN, Intamin approached and said "I can do you the 300 ft tall coaster with 45 degrees lift. Our price would be $38 million."

Get that? It's two million cheaper with Intamin. CP saved money by going with Intamin.

Edit: Why would B&M refuse a 300 ft tall coaster when they would get LOTS of money. It's all about money, right Jeff?
