At this point, I want to go back to California Adventure JUST to see this. I've never seen the like.
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
I have to admit, it looks *really* cool. We were thinking of an Anaheim visit in Summer '11, but decided to visit Alaska before it melted, so DLR is going to have to wait until '12.
The good news is that Radiator Springs is currently scheduled to open in June '12.
Yah, if we weren't local, we'd probably wait for Mermaid and Radiator Springs too. Too bad about the small viewing area though. Sounds like they need to put bleachers on top of the Mermaid attraction.
For those that don't want to wait to see it in person, watch the FULL show here in 720p HD, recorded on a preview night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqijf6DZz4s
After watching World of Color come together for over the past two or so years, seeing photographs and clips of the finished product is really just heart-warming. I feel like Disney did a really great job with dreaming up the concept and executing it. THIS will definitely give California Adventure more credibility to stand alongside its older sibling next-door. This level of entertainment is what guests expect from Disney. DCA is finally going to deliver on that.

I can totally picture this at Epcot. It makes the Bellagio fountains look like amateurs.
Scaling and construction of the show in the World Showcase lagoon would be a huge problem. I think Epcot should maintain it's fireworks centric show to keep the scale.
Now for that large lagoon area in Animal Kingdom next to Everest, the one with loads of land to use for a viewing area, in the park where you can't have fireworks..... hmmmmm
Replace the steaming pile of crap called Fantasmic. That show blows.

Which version of Fantasmic? Disney's Hollywood Studios or Disneyland? The one at DHS is generally considered to be the lesser of the two. You wouldn't think they would be that different but Disneyland's just seems to work better in that setting. Also, the pacing is tighter than the DHS version. But there those that don't like the Disneyland version either, so to each their own.
"Thank the Phoneticians!"
Yeah, at the studio park. Totally underwhelmed. Found it to be a complete waste of time.

I guess I'll be the opposing opinion but I love Fantasmic. That doesnt mean I dont think it should be improved (new dragon, dump Pocahontas section) but I love the music and to see them recreate The Sorcerer's Apprentice scene at the end is just amazing.
Fantasmic is a must do for me every time I go.
OMG what a great show, and I can only imagine how much more spectacular in person.
I totally agree the Florida location should be at Disney's Hollywood Studios in place of Fantasmic. It would solve a couple of problems, not the least of which is that it would replace a so-so show. (we had vip seats for Fantasmic along with our Brown Derby reservations - it was 30 degrees that night and the only good thing for us was when they shot fireballs and warmed the place up a bit! We had heard it was a great show but, sadly, a let down) Also, from photos I've seen, at CA the show area seems to be a bit of an eyesore during the day- a sea of electronics, cans, sprays, lights, platforms, etc. overtaking the water in the cee-ment lagoon. (or is it better hidden/covered with water now that construction is done?) Anyway, the Fantasmic area is off to the side away from daytime view, not to mention there would be little/no disruption or ugliness during the months and months it seems to take to build the show. The water is there. There's plenty of audience area for it too.
EPCOT World Showcase would be my second choice, but The Mole raises a good point about the scale. IllumiNations fits perfectly, is effective from just about everywhere, and it's a great show that gives me a thrill everytime I see it. I would sure hate to see it go away! Fantasmic? Not so much.
Thanks for the links, Tekwardo, and kRaXLeRidAh. I'll think I'll watch 'em again.
