I live in one of the poorest counties in WV. It's not very often that I see mullets. People around here have finally got the message that mullets are way out of style.
And many people around here are just as stupid as in other parts of the country. I blame country music. ;)

"Prejudices" (for lack of a better word without all the negative connotations) - are formed by people's experiences. Even among ACErs, you'll find (gasp!) picky eaters. Any identifiable, or self-identified, group will have certain similarities among the members...that's part of what makes them "a group". Of course, as humans, the differences will likely outweigh the similarities (except in regard to their shared commonality that brought them together in the first place).
Bottom line: Since Moosh mentioned "LL" first - if you can point at yourself and laugh, THEN you can begin to do the same with/for others...
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
I just checked---I could fly to MCO this evening for $160 one-way. That's not half bad.

Because when that happens, we no longer look at people as individuals but rather as parts of groups that we choose to create based on ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious belief, etc. Then we have to create scorecards for which group did or didn't do what, which group has or doesn't have what. Then finally, judge or prejudge people not on what they did, but on what their assigned group has done.
My biggest problem is that we all already do that (and I do mean ALL) but most of us aren't ready to admit that we do; typically the ones that have the most difficulty admitting it are the ones who benefit the most from it, both because they aren't confronted with it everyday and because there's self interest in ignoring it. The system (economic, educational, judicial, etc.) itself is slanted in a particular direction, and until we can admit it and our role in it, no amount of "tolerance" and "sensitivity" is going to mean anything.

I used to feel sorry for people without "four seasons", too....until I moved to California.
