La Ronde announces SLC for 2010

Posted Friday, September 25, 2009 4:24 AM | Contributed by Jeff

The former Serial Thriller from defunct Six Flags Astroworld will find a new home in Montreal. The Vekoma SLC hasn't seen action since 2005.

Visit the official La Ronde site (English version).

LOL...(ahem) ..Sorry. I just had to chuckle for a moment. Well, good for them I guess.

Is the La Ronde park worth a visit?

I only live about four hours away.

Nice one... I think they should have placed it next to the Vampire, and renamed them Smooth and Bumpy. Now people will be able to see just how crap the Vekoma SLC's are compared to the B&M Inverts.

I'm all for marketing a ride as new even if it isn't. Otherwise, what's the point. But, "Awe Inspiring"? Yeah, people are going to see it and say, "Awe, that isn't very inspiring, we already have a coaster like that." :)

All joking aside, I'm sure the public will like it. They seem to ride SLC's everywhere else they're installed, so why wouldn't they ride it here too.

The trains are being rebuilt in the US, and if these prove to be a smooth ride, everything will be peachy.

Could this be getting the new "freedom seats" like Morey's got?

Edit: Correction made thanks to the warm reminder from a delightful New Jersey resident. :)

Like the The Maury Povich Show?

I'm from New Jersey. It's called Morey's.

The press release refers to the ride as "half-suspended." Huh?

Whoever did the French to English translation missplaced the adjective "half." I'm sure they meant to write "a suspended coaster in which half of the ride is over the lake."

I think it's pretty incredible it will be over the water. That is sure to add some uniqueness to it. This is what I was hoping they would do with Thunderhawk at Michigan's Adventure. Regardless of the awesome B&M lineup they already have at La Ronde, this is sure to please the guests.

I think he meant "unique" as in "not another like it in the USA." Of course one could argue that Great Nor'Easter is built over water, lol.

And the Gold Rusher at SFMM goes "under" water. ;)

Yes, La Ronde is worth a visit. IMO every park is worth a visit unless all you care about are coasters, then sometimes not.

I got bored and happened to look at La Ronde's Facebook page. I don't know French, but it appears that people on there have already figured out that its the old Serial Thriller and that its just like almost any other Vekoma SLC out there.

The USA may as well invade and annex Canada. It'd make crossing the boarder less of pain in the butt.
