Kings Dominion today announced Intimidator 305, a 5,100-foot long steel roller coaster. It takes its name from stock car driver Dale Earnhardt, “The Intimidator,” along with the height of the coaster’s lift hill, 305 feet. It will reach speeds over 90 mph. The ride will be a $25 million investment at the park.

Sounds great, but I'd have to say i'm a little dissapointed that this ride didn't take out MF and SD2000 as the tallest and fastest gravity based roller coaster.

It's as if Millennium Force and Maverick had a love child. Looks like fun to me. Boy it didn't take long for someone to be disappointed. I was looking at the site and the amount of track in the staging area and figured out a few weeks ago that someone would be disappointed.
I think we all know that Dick's ego will prevent a ride bigger than MF to be located somewhere other than across the street from his house.
But this ride does look like it'll have more air time than MF, especially that second hill. I think the low and fast turns are brilliant. Hopefully they can keep the heat issues under control on the wheels and bearings.

The Millennium/Maverick combination seemed clear to me too. I don't enjoy the NASCAR theme, but I'm sure the people in Virginia will eat it up. I will definitely be heading back to this park next summer.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
"MF and Maverick have a love child" lol well said.
I was just hoping it was going to be the rumored 350 feet. that's all really
And I still want to go on this next summer, the 45 foot difference hasn't changed that.
I really wonder how much airtime those hills are going to produce. Its hard to tell at those speeds.
And I agree with Jeff, this once and for all proves Dick's ego! I'm surprised they didn't make the first drop 79 degrees :) I must say the 85 degrrees is the most impressive part of the ride.

I have to say that I am rather underwhelmed by the ride as presented. The biggest killer for me are the OTSRs, which are definitely not needed. Other than the two really fast direction changes, I can't see this being a very forceful coaster. I would love to have the opportunity to have my opinion changed, though.

If your referring to the rumor started by Screamscape, the 350' that was spoken about was in regards to the height of the Eiffel Tower. I e-mailed him about it, though he never posted that information.
