Son of Beast closed for the year, future to be decided in off-season

The Son of Beast roller coaster has been declared safe, but debate over whether it's "enjoyable" prompted Kings Island to keep it closed through year's end, officials said Monday. Park officials won't decide what to do with it until the off-season.

Don Helbig, park spokesman, said today, , "we're notcompletely satisfied with the ride experience."

They just now figured this out?

Can they just get rid of this thing already?

As much as I actually enjoy this ride (yes, you read that right!), I'm just about certain this is the beginning of the end for SOB. I said about two weeks ago it would likely be down the rest of the season...it happened. I hate to predict the demise of this ride, but its on its way down and out more than likely. I don't think there's really much they can do to help the ride anyway. I'm glad I got my rides in over the past 10 seasons.

I just saw this on my local news a few minutes ago. This just confirms what we already suspected. At least the park is finally talking about it.

I never rode this ride, but I wish I did when it had the loop. It had horrible Premier trains that were rough, now it has Gerstlauer trains, which absolutely horrible. So would good set of trains like PTC or Millennium Flyers (I know, GCI exclusive, but I can dream) help this coaster out at all?

Yeah, I'm with Greg on this one. Rip it out before it hurts anyone else.

As much as I hate the ride...

Leave it up. There are enough suckers that WANT to ride it that won't be waiting in line with me for the other, better rides in the park.

Certain victory.

So...

If they build a new ride in place of SOB, what are we gonna call it?

To the best I can recall, I actually never got to ride it WITHOUT the loop. Part of me would like that chance just to see if it did improve things any, but honestly it doesn't sound like it did...
