@ Andrew above...

The mummy effect was working as of last week for 2 days straight during my visit.

Interesting. Wasn't working last week when I stopped by the park and it wasn't working yesterday either.

I just drove by Rockit and it looks like it will be topped off either tonight or first thing tomorrow. From the road it appears the first drop is much steeper than the animation shows.

In general I don't like giving SPOILERS, so if you've not ridden Mummy and don't want to know, please skip ahead to the next post! Gone? Good! So when you all are talking about the Mummy working properly, you mean: the car turns the corner to see our guy telling us to leave, then the coffin opens, the mummy comes out, raises his hand, blue lights and fog appear, mummy steals his voice, the whole nine yards? Because the ride itself is still fabulous and I love it regardless - but in the last 3-4 months I've found Spidey to have more of its effects working, and Mummy I haven't seen operate fully since before Thanksgiving - maybe it's MY timing, LOL.

What makes the yeti on Expedition Everest different from previous animatronics, or the mummy?

^ What makes it different is that Disney spent millions on a huge foundation and giant animatronic that supposedly has tons of moving parts, BUT you fly past it and 90% of the time it isn't even working... pretty stupid if you ask me.

Screamscape is reporting that there maybe be a problem with either the lift or the lift's support tower. Isn't this a pretty standard lift for this type of coaster? There hasn't been any construction on that section since 3/17.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

Yeah, construction has slowed considerably. I go there frequenlty just to check construction and not much track has been added in my last couple visits. I hope its just a rumor. Maybe construction has slowed because of Mardi Gras (Kelly Clarkson was really good btw).

Mardi Gras? That must be one good party... I thought Mardi Gras was at least 3 weeks ago. Or am I missing something here?

They had to slow construction because of Hammer? :) ;)

When they found out Hammer was to perform the word from USF to the RRR construction crew was "Can't touch this!"

That is so weird because I would have bet money they'd have been "Too legit to quit!"

Awww, I was hoping that was a link to "Pumps And A Bump" because everyone knows that was the greatest Hammer song evah!

Are you kidding? That song can't touch the glory that is Funky Cold Medina.

Wait, or was that LL Cool J? ;)

Wrong on both accounts, Mike. That was Tone Loc.

Off topic from washed up rap stars, dig the sax riff in this video:

I promoted that song! I'll have to dig out and scan the photo of me and Hammer at the release party, held at his (former) house in Oakland.

Josh, I grew up with Men at Work. That sax solo is indelibly etched into my brain. Tone Loc came about somewhat later, and apparently I succeeded in forgetting as much as possible about him. :)

Moosh, was he wearing parachute pants?

The Orlando Sentinel is confirming that the ride's opening has been delayed. It's now "late spring, early summer" instead of "spring" -- so I guess it gives Sea World's marketing department a little breathing room with Manta.
