A 12-year-old girl has collected hundreds of signatures for a petition opposing the sale of alcohol at Six Flags Over Texas. Christi Campbell, a Six Flags season ticket holder, said she doesn't want the amusement park to sell beer. She said she called the Arlington City Council to see what she could do after she learned Six Flags had applied for a permit to sell beer.

Because this is totally something a kid would come up with all by themselves. They're totally qualified to draw conclusions about alcohol on their own.

Since when is it up to the customer to determine the target audience for a business? Isn't it up to the business to decide whom it would like to target with their product?
Good luck, Kid.
I remember a similar petition when the Cleveland MetroParks Zoo started serving beer. It failed.
Come on, though. They sell beer and wine at Chuck E' Cheeses and sadly, I've many a parent stagger out of their with kids in tow. Do the MGR's care, nope. Do the workers care, nope.

This entire argument just seems like a complete waste of time, especially from a political standpoint. I believe there are many more things a city should be concerned about, yet they contemplate whether a business should or should not sell alcohol.
Might as well not sell food at the theme park anymore either because I don't want hot dog chunks landing on me either...I'm much more concerned about puking up the last meal than I am about someone puking who could not hold their liquor.

About a year ago, a class of 3rd graders wrote a series of letters to the park telling them not to sell alcohol. One of them wrote "I dont want drunk people throwing up on me on the rides"I just cant find the article now.

It's no more an interesting discussion now than it was then.

Diverging very slightly from the thread, I recall a few years ago that the only acceptable ID for alcohol at Cedar Point was a state ID or drivers license - which no international visitors are ever likely to have. I wonder if that's still the case.
