I think that you misunderstood me, Gonch. I was simply asking if it was possible that the reason the active topics on the main page were not used is because people are not visiting the main page. Thanks though.
Jeff, are you selling or do you plan to sell the forum software? This is the best forum on the net.

I'm on the fence about selling it. If I sell it, I have to support it, and I'm not sure I want to do that. I just don't feel like it's "ready" yet. I don't even know what that means exactly. :)

It's something I've been thinking about, but I've not yet come to any conclusion about whether or not to do it. The icon to the newest topic seems to already fill that role 90% of people.

Changing gears a bit, I have had a problem with formatting on my last two posts. I type the post into this box, hitting ENTER to insert some carriage-returns as needed to separate paragraphs. When I submit, those carriage returns are eliminated, and all the text goes together. Example - following should be two ENTERs to start a new paragraph:This should be a new line with a space between it and last. It likely will not be :)Another new paragraph here. The odd thing is, if I hit Edit, and re-insert the lines, they work fine. Is the 'edit' window a WYSIWYG editor whereas this box at the bottom is not? Apologies if this has been covered before. Also, I was unable to find a handy link near the text-entry box to the list of formatting tags.. I believe the old site had a link (I remember looking them up once). For the record, I am using Firefox 3.
Do you have any plugins installed? I use FF3 as well with no problems at all.
Check the video tour for example forum tags.

Second try after completely disabling Noscript - that is the only plugin I have, and I'd told it to always allow Coasterbuzz. It's disabled now from within firefox, and firefox restarted. New line here?
Hm, still no go. Weird... I guess I could try uninstalling Noscript, but I figure disabling it would be a good enough test. I'll nuke the cache and see how it goes next post... can always edit if I have to :)
Not sure what Noscript is, but the site uses a lot of script, including with the rich text editor.
My experience is that well-intentioned browser plug-ins often do more harm than good. Even Firebug, used for debugging and CSS tweaking in FF, has a tendency to bring down the entire browser.
And I can't even tell you why a small percentage of IE users are somehow forced into <pre> text by the text box.

Noscript is a plugin that allows you to select what sites can run any type of scripting or addon. More details at http://noscript.net/
It is a great defensive tool with so may web-based exploits out there these days, especially the newer ones that exploit Flash, Quicktime or other browser addons. With noscript, you have to specifically allow a site to run any scripted content - any scripts from a site you haven't already allowed will not run. You can permanently allow a site full rights (which I did for CB and other sites I frequent) - you can also temporarily allow all scripts on one particular page to run, if the page is mixed content and you trust it. I allowed this also while troubleshooting the editor, and eventually just disabled the whole plugin (it's still shut off). No change.
If that other fella who mentioned the same problem does not have noscript, I doubt that is the culprit. All "breakages" I've encountered with noscript have gone away once (if) I whitelist the site in question. I could try IE, but I prefer not to use that if at all possible.
There's really no reason for the page numbers unless you want to re-read posts (and if you really want to, you can do it fom inside the thread).
metallik, exploits come more from images more so from anything else so you might as well browse the web with text only...
