Deja Vu @ SFoG
My friend and me went to SFOG yesterday and found out some horrible news while checking out the Deja construction site and talking with some employees.
During the testing earlier this week there was a huge accident on Deja Vu. The pulley cart on the top of lift 2 derailed and destroyed the front car and ruined some of the other cars .
The front car is completly destroyed. The front seats are ripped in pieces and the hand grips totally mangeled. The frame is also cracked and the rear seat pads are hanging off. It's really ugly. The same goes for the pulley cart. It is mangled beyond repair. You should see the bolts. They were ripped right of the screws and one half of cart is ripped off.
The good thing is they just got a replacement train and it's all wrapped up on site. They are currently repairing all the cars and replacing all the wheels. They have wheels lying around everywhere. It isn't a pretty sight.
It's going to be a while before this thing gets up and running. It was suppose to be open this weekend as the queue line is finished, but it won't happen due to the accident. This really sucks and I wouldn't be suprised not to see the other Dejas open till they figure out everything that went wrong.

This "accident" is all over the internet today, but there is no confirmation, nor anyone trying to debunk it. Is there any hard proof either way? I searched the Atlanta news sites, but there is nothing on it. You think it would be int he news!
All I've heard is "my friend said..." and "I heard that..." Are there any pictures or news stories, etc. to confirm or kill this rumor?

Guys, it's true! It happened. Go to SFOG and look in the back of the parking lot on the Deja Vu construction site it isn't pretty. Also, why would it be on the news. There was no one on it, and they barely put anything on the news about coasters even during a rides grand opening.
Again if you don't believe me, just go to SFOG and look. The proof are the parts of the coaster scattered around the back of the parking lot and the coaster trains all being rebuilt. If you do go, the destroyed cart and car are on the far left side, by the maintence gate. They are by themselves along with scrap metal and other pieces from the wreckage. The other cars are under a roof that was part of the queue line under construction, but is currently being used as the car rebuilding area.

hmmmmmmmmm... coaster trains?... and excuse me.. but don't the words destroyed and ruined almost have the same meaning?.. Can you back this up? I suppose not. are you a habitual lier? HM? Deja Vu has only 1 train.. get with the program and get your facts in line BEFORE you come on here and scare the hell out of every one!

I will believe it when I see a picture. (I'm not saying you guys are lying, it's just a lot of untrue crap get's spread around these kind of sites (magnum is sinking), and you just can't believe anything like this without proof)
If an accident had happened in the last few days, how could Vekoma manufacture a replacement train and ship it from the Netherlands? Magic?
I would think this kind of thing would be on the news. If it happened as described, people who were on it (if it was open of course) could have been seriously hurt! Sounds like that lift sled needs to be completely rethought if this is true!

Well, this accident is obvious recent, so how could Vekoma send a whole train that fast? Or let me guess, it is there because SFoG told SFGAm to send thiers, so they did a one day Fed Ex! That is why SFGAm still doesn't have it's train on (last I heard, anyways!)

Sorry guys. I mean it as coaster cars. The cars are all torn up and it should be the train is ruined. Again, if you don't believe me just go to the park and look. The new car is rapped up and has some tarp draped over the tops of the seats. It has no wheels. The other cars that are being re assembled have wheels installed on the two front axles or whatever they call them. They aren't axles but I have no other term for what those wheels connect to.
Like I said, you shouldn't criticize me for lying if you havn't been there. I don't have any way of putting pics on my computer. Just go to the park and look for yourself. And if your wondering how the car got here so fast, I wondered too, but my dad said it would be pretty easy. Depending on when it happened, if Vekoma already had the cars assembled somewhere(which they would of had to) they could've been flown into Atlanta and been at the park the next day.

Depending on when it happened, if Vekoma already had the cars assembled somewhere(which they would of had to) they could've been flown into Atlanta and been at the park the next day.

You see, 99% of us on this site can't "just go to the park and look". For a story this unbelievable, people aren't going to believe it unless there are pictures, a press release, a news story, or something.
Someone posted Demon Drop had an accident and the car flew off into the ticket booths. It wasn't true. Someone posted Magnum was sinking. It wasn't true. Someone posted Magic Maountin was building a 400 ft woodie. It wasn't true. Someone posted that the beloved Steel Phantom was being removed. IMPOSSIBLE. But, they had a link to an official statement and news story. I guess that one was true.
I certainly don't mean to call you a lier, but with all the crap out there, you can't expect a story this outlandish to believed just on someone's word. I wish I could, but one just can't.
A coaster train is the most intricate and expensive part of a coaster. (WAY more than a section of track, or a support pole) I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that Vekoma had a train just sitting there waiting to find a home.
If coaster trains are that easy to get, I may have one of my Dutch friends call up Vekoma and have them overnight me one. You all can come to my house on Monday and watch the new coaster shows in it, sitting in front of the big screen! (I won't even make you buckle the seat belts!)

Listen. What happened probably was that Vekoma had just sent the cars to put in the warehouse for parts at the same time it crashed. It was a coincidence that they happened at about the same time. Listen this is true. If not why would Magic Mountain, one of the owners of the other Deja-Vu's, lose tons of money on advertising, etc. for their scheduled opening date this weekend when it didn't open. Sounds like they are waiting to find out what caused the lift pulley cart to derail and crash into the train. I call Sfog and have contacts there. They had told me this weekend for opening and now they are hesitant to say 2 weeks from now. Honestly Deja-Vu did crash. This is not one of those bull stories you hear every day. I have fallen for those bogus stories too. I know it crashed.
