New Great America roller coaster is Super

A Six Flags park, a new roller coaster, and a probable Superman theme..........I would think people living in the most remote places on earth could have figured out that last part by now..........obviously I don't agree with "branding"

One more request for originality from Premier/Six Flags......

I'm mixed on the Superman theme. I totally understand (and to some degree, agree with) the branding thing with each SF park having the same rides - or names at least. I've never been a fan of "Superhero" rides. It seems so generic. Then to use the gazillion variations of Superman and Batman and slap them all over the place - it's so "assembly line" that it's almost silly.

This is kinda a stupid question, but will this ride be an exact clone of SFOG's and SFGAdv's? I heard somewhere that there was some minor difference, but I'm not sure if thats accurate or not.

The superhero theming definitely does not go with Great America's original concept, and really takes away for the areas they put them in. Instead of the nice nautical feel and beaches of Tidal Wave, you get the inner-city looking building and garbage of Batman (which Chicago has areas like that for real, it doesnt need something themed like that )

I don't beleive superman was cajun. But at least their minds didn't have to put any thought at all into theming the ride for the park.

Maybe we think a bit too deeply about *amusement park* rides. Why don't we ask McDonalds for original theming and names for their fast food joints? I don't think most people even think about it anymore, it's just McDonalds.

With as many parks as Six Flags headlines, I'm not surprised at the lack of originality. Even Disney re-treads old names and themes for their parks around the globe.

I know I will likely be blasted for this but, we are talking about a flying coaster and honestly, what better theme could you think of for a flyer then superman?

Very good point DWeaver, and I think that's exactly where Six Flags wants to be with their parks. I can't say I disagree with that.

It's a personal preference on the superhero thing. Licensing a character and slapping it everywhere you can just doesn't seem personal enough.

Touchdown - should I list the millions of other things in the world that fly in some capacity? ;)

If you notice, the park did not confirm the information. They would not comment because they are having their press conference on Feb 4th. We will find out for sure then, but from what has been seen on-site, it does appear that we are, indeed, getting a clone...

I would perfer that if they are going to a Superman theme that they drop the New orleans theme for the area and re-theme it to match the new ride they are putting in.
I much perfer going into area's where it is well themeed rather than a mix of different things. Thats why the disney parks/BGW/Universal are so nice and a pleasure to walk thru and visit.

Bob O, perhaps they'll call it Superman: Kajun Kryptonite or something like that... ;)

nobody cares about the so called great ride that is comming to sfga.for one it is a damn clone .so what is it to get exited for .if you rode superman:uf in sfog youve baisically rode the new one that is coming to sfgam

smuf:ga is 115 smuf:nf is 115 ft so why is there a speed difference? smuf:atl is 1 foot longer than theone in nj

I for one am really excited about the new coaster at SFGAM. I love those B&M flyers, clone or not.

Call me crazy but the way I look at it, a clone is better than no coaster at all.

Definitely worth a trip.

So many people complain about clones, but I bet if you look at their track record you'll see plenty of them. If you can't stand them don't ride them.

I get your point but i get so agervated about these clones.now i think that it might be worth it to go ride the one in sfnj.i love riding any great coasters like smuf .look at all of the vekoma clones.i bet i could name 68 of them

I don't really care if it's a clone or not. Georgia and Elitch has one.....it's only natural that Chicago is hit next!

I will look forward to riding it during my first visit to Great America during my post-SRM midwest excursions. Very cool!
