Six Flags Great America teases new ride

Posted Monday, January 20, 2003 8:58 AM | Contributed by SFGA2001

Bedecked in red capes, Six Flags Great America PR representatives Susan Storey and Michelle Hoffman played a tape at last weekend's ACE No Coaster Con that tweaks the public relation specialists for downplaying one of the worst-kept secrets in amusement park circles. The park will announce the new coaster Feb. 4 simultaneously in Chicago and Milwaukee.

In the print version of the article, it ran with a photo, which included me.

Also, the print version was a little shorter and did not mention CP...

I will try to get the scan online today and will post a link to it...

"It's very unique," Storey said. "There's no other ride like it in the Midwest"

If this doesnt confirm its a clone, dont know what will!!!

X-flight was made by Vekoma, while Superman is made by B&M, that's probably their justification for that statement.

Actually, the article read 'world's tallest and fastest suspended BOOMERANG coaster.' That's justified and narrows the playing field substantially.

I doubt the general public gives a rip about the designer/builder. Fact is, this is not the only flying coaster in the midwest...the statement is a bit misleading in my opinion.

Come-on, Jeff. SFGA can't generate it's enthusiasm on it's own. It's up to you. It's the PR specialists fault no one cares about Superman. Come-ON! Look at these great red capes!! No one in the Midwest would hawk their rides with cheap dialog while wearing cool red capes.

yeeesh. They would do just as good if they just stood up there with tears in their eyes in front of a nobody love's me sign.

"Other Six Flags across the county opened or are building similar flying coasters."

Really? I didn't know Gurnee was so big. ;)

Vertical Velocity is not taller than Deja Vu, and Six Flags won't acknowledge WT as a coaster until... ;)
