Six Flags Worlds of Adventure recently announced the addition of seven new-for-2002 flat rides and two older flat rides. The rides are used from Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and Six Flags Elitch Gardens.

I have heard that they are actually planning "scheduled down time" for certain rides at the park. Apparenlty, as a result of budget shortfalls, the park plans to wait until noon to open some rides and not open others all together on certain days.

With that in mind, why would they add new "used" rides?

This picture sure looks like Pirate's Flight from Sfgadv. I know they took it down and sent it away to another park two days before opening day, but I'm still not sure which park was going to get it.

I would complain about the ride removals from SFKK but virtually nobody rode those anyways. I think the problem was that they were way to spread out. Ok....random falt ride here....random flat ride there, and boom, nobody rides em.

I may not be a kid any more, but it's too bad that they're getting rid of the boat with the water canons. That was pretty cool when I was younger.

I still am hoping they get a cool dark ride eventually; think of the theming possibilities!

Any update on the whales or hypercoaster?

Are we actually going to see next year: whales, hypercoaster, and Lost World?!!?!

What I have heard about the whales was that the deadline for submitting your opinion to the government was extended but reports are that there was more negative feedback than positive feedback.

It looks like the park is making steps in the right direction. Instead of doing too much to handle, I think next season will be a lot better than the past seasons. These flats are going on the wildlife side along with a few others that were on the rides side. With them adding the Tiger Island show, trying to get the killer whales, and adding in 7 new flats they definately are showing they want to build up the wildlife side. Hopefully this will balance out the park better and give coaster freaks even shorter lines. I even heard they're looking into a reptile exhibit and fireworks everynight. Way to go SFWoA.

I would be more than happy with that many flat rides, used or not. Hey, its better than nothing isnt it?

All I can hope for now is that SFKK removed those flat rides to make room for something new next season. I think it's a great thing that some of these lesser-ridden rides are being gotten rid of at this park. It seems that's all that's on the one side of the park anyhow.

Those Pirate Ships are definitely Pirate's Flight from SFGAdv...no question.

Check this article for list and descriptions of new attractions

The lineup features Mini Tea Cups, a Kiddie Boat Ride, the Clown Around, theBee Bee, a family Carousel, a Swan Ride and a Pirate Ship Ride, Black Widow, and a Yo-yo.

Sounds like they're just moving SFMW's Poppie's kiddie seaport

The Beast- check out Vertigo's link for descriptions. The areas of the park which they'll be in is still in question. We know for sure that they'll be located on the Wildlife side of the park, though.

Does anyone know if they will be putting up the Trabant ride for the '02 season? That ride, which was probably supposed to be called something like the Boardwalk Casino... was to go in the Wildlife side near the Pirate & Scrambler back in '01, but for some reason just never went up... does anyone know if it's going to be put there for this season, or even at all??

Also... does anyone know if any of the rides mentioned that are coming are actually THRILL rides as opposed to just kiddie rides?? Most of them sound like kiddie rides... and the least we could hope for is some kinda rejected thrill ride or spin N puke!

"Scheduled Down Time", where the park does not open some rides until noon? That will only futher the terrible word-of-mouth reputation that SFWOA already has....
