Is the ride going to open on March 23, I highly doubt it since it is only about two months away. I am not sure how much of the ride is completed but it seems they started construction only a month or two ago. If it is a flyer that would not leave much time to test out a prototype ride, so i kind of doubt it is goingto open on theopening day of 2002.

I bet it's going to be themed to Batman.

I bet it's an Intamin Hyper.

I can't wait.

Will it be named 'Superboy'? ;)

Knowing SF, you're spot on about it being likely to open late. On the other hand, B&M may have ironed out any problems, yet AIR isn't operating yet!

Vertical construction is well under way with the lift hill almost finished (I think.)

Taipan,

AIR operated "flawlessly" yesterday at 1pm for the first time.  I wish I had a link since no one believes people without links but I do not, it was on one of Wardley's pages and I'm way too lazy to look it up.

But fear not, AIR is operating.

Air is open already?  I thought it was supposed to open in March.  That's two months ahead of schedule.

Duh.  I had a brain freeze. ;)  Operated and opened are obviously two different things.

Um... no,
no,
and hell yes.

It's a B&M of some sort, it's the wrong colors to be batman, and yes, no matter what, a new *good* ride at SFOG is something no one can wait for.

It is a B+M flying coaster.

Construction is coming along nicely.

It should hopefully open by spring break, although it may open ahead of schedule.

There is a B&M inverted lift hill (meaning a flyer, no need for two B:TRs) about 2/3 of the way done that can be seen from I-20 WB (the park is in a valley and there is a big hill down toward the park.

John Wardley exclusively confirmed on www.rideas.co.uk that on Thursday at about 1.30PM AIR Tested for the very first time perfectly, So it seems that AIR will indeed Open On schedule on 16th March at 10AM for the general public but 9AM for Season Ticket holders and Hotel Guests, I cant wait :)
Does anyone think that SFOG's Version will open on time when the re-open, knowing Six Flags, it wont happen, it even seems like they have too much to do anyway, Surely it wont be all ready and prepared for opening when they reopen 23rd March??? 2 months isnt enough time, I suspect It will actually Open April/Early May?????

PaulD - I'd be willing to bet that 9x out of 10 when a coaster does not open on time at a Six Flags park [or ANY park] the blame lies with the manufacturer, the weather, or the construction and not the park.  Case in point:  all three Dejas, X, the two Dutchman, and Superman The Escape, just to name 7 recent examples.  I believe all the B&Ms have opened on time, and I can't remember the last time a woody's opening was delayed.  One common trend is that the coasters that tend to open late are prototypes.  Now, true, there was one Dutchman before X-Wing and Batwing but both those two had new features.

I'm not necessarily defending Six Flags but I do think they often get bashed unnecessarily.

None of SFOG's rides have opened with the park. I don't suspect it will be open until late may. They still have to fix the cotton states area they tore down, and replace the theming of it.

I've heard spring break is the desired opening time.  If that's true, it should be open on time, as scheduled.
