IOARules - you're correct, and I apologize to Paul D for misunderstanding his point.  I thought he was bashing SF for coaster projects that have a delayed opening.  I realize now he just meant rides that are not scheduled to open on opening day.
gimme links people!
That's great a SUPER announcement on my birthday.:)
This is pointless info. The park hasn't even official announced the ride.

Is it anymore pointless than your post?

Guys, all the supports are up on the ride and they only tore down about 1-2 buildings and took out a couple games, nothing that could slow it down till may. It very well could be done by the end of January or early Feb.. Then all thats gotta be done is repainting Viper's old station for a storage shed(thats what its gonna become) and paving up to the ride. Oh yeah and you've got a que line, and thats just about it. If they cant pave and build maybe 1-2 buildings over there and pave in 2 1/2 months, I feel bad for SFoG.
Too bad there is no flat going in.  They could use a few more.  I wonder if they'll focus on this new "area" in the years to come, kinda like SFGAm did with Southwest Territory ('95 Viper, '96 SWT with flats, '97 Giant Drop, '99 Raging Bull)?

I Agreee more flatrides are needed there.
Well, they did it to Paramount, and they're doing it again.

They have well earned their title of--

Six Flags: Stealer of Exclusiveness

-Nate

Nate,

If you are refering to Six Flags producing the Vekoma Flying Dutchman coaster after Paramount was the first to install one, then I wouldn't consider that stealing.

I could be wrong here but from what I hear Paramount sold Six Flags the other two Flying Dutchman coasters. Six Flags didn't 'steal' them away from Paramount.  Paramount had some say in the Flying Dutchman design.

Also, Alton never had a 'exclusive' for the B&M version from what I can tell.

If that is not what you mean, then I apologize.

-Sean

SFoG has a bad habbit of not opening the rides w/ the park.  They never, however, say that the ride will open w/ the park, just that it will open that spring.  (except of course w/ Deja Vu).

I due think that they could have this one open by the first weekend in April if they keep everything on track.

Nate:  Six Flags didn't steal anything.  Alton only has a market exclusivity contract, and SFOG is not in Alton's market.
I have never been a believer in the whole 'exclusive contract' thing... I've never seen a proven case of it.  Besides as Mamoosh mentioned, Alton isn't in SFOG's market and vice-versa.

On the side... I'm not new, just not frequent.

Market exclusivity contracts aren't uncommon. Paramount footed some of the R&D bill for the Dutchman, according to one of the PKI PR folks. They licensed the design for the two Six Flags rides.
