The Boss

I found the Boss to be one of the better wooden coasters I have been on. In fact, I would put it at #3, right behind Legend and Raven. The ride didn't seem overly rough to me...just in need of some trackwork in a few places.

Actually I thought that the Boss was better than the Legend and the Raven. I guess because the Boss is more intense than the other two. I like intensity, especially in wood coasters.

I have seen the layout and footage of the Raven and i don't really see the intensity or the excittment. but then again cyclops at Big Chief is amazing and it isn't that big. What are the good parts of Raven and why is there such a hype. i am not judging it i am only wondering what makes it in the top 5 for woodies.

HW is my home park, so I ride Raven constantly, and I STILL do not know why it is so amazing. It's airtime and intensity surprises me everytime I ride. The 5th drop is one of the best parts...it is a very large drop that takes you by surprise, and features awesome stand-up air. You just have to ride it to understand.

The Raven is a GREAT ride. I loved it. But it is not near as intense as the Boss.

The Raven is fast as sin. I mean non-stop fast, especially after that killer 5th drop. I guess I'm spoiled, but it really stinks they added ratcheting lap bars (RED ones, so they can still say "no orange lap bars" cute, but...). I think the Legend is swell! It's gotta be up there, I don't arrange my top 5 coasters, they're just all lumped together.

What makes the Legend better than the Boss, in some ways, are the 4(!!!) tunnels, lack of brakes, consistent speed and wild laterals. But, the Boss is more intense at times. After the first drop (double drop), the twisted speed hill on the way to the first turn around is a real knock out. I mean KNOCK-OUT! I thought I got knocked out! But overall, the Legend may be like 5% better... Plus, it's at Holiday World (free pop, it's clean, more trees, nice employees AND the Raven is there.

Guys, no other coaster anywhere is as intense and wild as the Legend at about 1 in the morning. None other. The boss doesn't even come close to coming close. still a great ride though. Actually, the only other ride that does come close is the.........


Raven!

I wish SFStL would hold a coaster event for the Boss and Screamin' Eagle like HW has SRM. The Boss is a great lights off night ride as is the Eagle.
