Hey, I have been looking at the boss, and of all of the wooden rides i haven't been on that i would love to like Shivering Timbers and Boulder Dash. I was wondering what everybody thinks of this ride and where it should stand in the ratings. Also if there is a place that i could see the layout or something. Is it worth it to go from SFGAm area to there?

It's a world class ride. INTENSE! Check out the 4 boss pics at CoasterGallery.com This one is as close to a total shot as you can get without being in the air. There's even a lot more to the right of the shot.

Yeah, it is a pretty intense ride! My fav woodie, actually. I really like the very front, some of the turns really squish you up against the side of the train!!! It is really awesome. Hey, that was a really cool picture of it! But, there is like 2 other hills and the helix off the the right of the picture.

Of all the wooden coasters I have ridden, the Boss is my favorite. It is the most intense coaster ever. The first drop is amazing, on the double down you get airtime no matter what seat you sit in. Then, all of a sudden you are slammed into the side of the car. Riding it at night with the lights off was unreal. Definitely the most intense coaster experience of my life. If you like your coasters wild, rough, and out of control, then you will love the Boss. If you can't take a whooping, then you will hate it.
I rode the Boss last summer when I was at the park on my way to IN. My only regrets was I only rode It once. It was a sweet coaster. I liked it better the Villian at SFWOA at the time SFO

The Boss is awesome. Its actually the main reason to visit SixFlagsStLouis. If you like a insane and out of control ride, The Boss is for you!

Dayuum, Your HOT!
The only real problem with the boss is, even though it is wooden, it will knock the crap out of you. I suggest not eating before you go on it, or if you have the slightest headache. Its a good coaster, but can be a little rough if you arn't used to being beaten around on a coaster.
Has it gotten worse. I rode it last June and did not think it was rough.
We rode it last August, we thought it was very rough. We only rode it the one time -- and the four of us are a bunch that likes to get knocked around. But the Boss was too rough in a bad way.

Dr. Leonard McCoy
Try riding the Twister 2 at SFEG that is rough
The BOSS is my favorite wooden coaster. Whoever said size doesn't matter hasn't ridden The BOSS. I still think of it now and then much like I do The Force. It is crazy how huge everything is. THE HELIX RULES! That pic is sweet, but it does not show the whole ride. There are sweet little bunny hops on the other side that leads to a gigantic helix. After the helix, its another little hop onto the brake run. Its crazy how much the helix's wood bends like paper when the train is going through it.

Word of Advice: Never drink a Sprite, or any kind of soft drink for that matter, before riding The Boss. I made that mistake last summer. I had just gotten off Screamin' Eagle and got a bottle of sprite. Then hopped on The Boss after a 1 hour line. Lets just say we went back to our hotel early right after that.
I dont know what you alls definition of "rough" is as it is apparent that it varies from person to person. Let me just say this, BOSS is a physically challenging coaster. It is one of the more intense wooden coasters around. It is a really fun ride if you like bump and grind type woodies (git yo minds outta da gutter!). If you like your woodies to be more genteel-like, then stay away from BOSS. He is one mean dude, almost as fierce as his 2 sisters 3 hours to the east in Southern Indiana.
However, there was no one moment that really stood out to me as a dont miss moment on the coaster so it is not quite one of my favorites. OTOH, while you're at the park, you need to check out Mr. Freeze (if you havent already). Now THAT coaster I would travel from Chi-town for...

It's my 3rd favorite woodie, just under Legend and Raven. It is MUCH smoother this year, so if you rode it last year and thought it was rough, give it another chance. Good ride, intense, and good air.

Lets just put it this way:
The Boss is not for sissies, but then again, no truly great coaster is for sissies.

FINALLY!! The BOSS gets some love! I think this ride is awesome. The laterals rock and it has great airtime. Many coaster enthusiasts tend to knock it and it was rated really low in many of last years polls, but it was a huge hit with people in the SFStL area (Missouri, West Kentucky, Arkansas, and Illinois). It was probably more popular than Batman or Mr.Freeze was. Also I believe last year SFStL broke attendence records???
The Boss is definitely a great coaster, but I don’t know if I’d drive all the way from Chicago just to ride it. As far as wooden coasters at SFStL, I actually prefer the Screamin’ Eagle. The Eagle has more “floater” air over the hills, where the Boss is mostly about laterals (with the exception of HUGE air on the first drop if you ride in the back). The ride is a mixed bag – sometimes it is incredibly jarring, but every once in a while, it is quite smooth, but always very intense.
I feel bad for the guy trying to break the coaster endurance record on the Boss… this ride might kill him…
Right now THE BOSS is my fav. coaster. This just seems like one of those coasters that will be modified due to maintenance costs. On the helix the wood bends A LOT. Ride it while you can.

I know what you mean, Kip099, but if anyone can survive 100 days on the Boss, it has to be Richard Rodriguez. That guy is AMAZING. There is NO WAY I could come close to doing some things he has done. I think he musn't be human! :)

How weird is that? I guess that means I'm going to get to see that guy when I'm there in July! He sure is going to lower the capacity for that ride this summer ;). I hope he's still surviving when I'm there. Oh, and the Boss is probably one of the top 3 coasters I'm anticipating out of 45 new ones I'll be riding this summer. It looks incredible!
