New England's new B&M is approved by local board of appeals

Could it really be a floorless? Not even the prototype (Medusa) was this small. As much as I like floorless coasters over standups, I would almost prefer a standup with these specs. It would probably offer a better ride. They have so much room in that parking lot. If they wanted to build a floorless, it could have been much larger than that. I don't quite get it. Any B&M is a winner IMO though. Can't wait.

Did anyone else read the bottom of the story, where it says that B&M have never had a Accident.    Is that Possible?  If so That is amazing for how many units they have out there today.

Well to get technical, an incident occured in the (floorless) Batman Knight Flight station when a ride op fell through the floor that opened. But it had nothing to do with the safty of the ride itself.

It was a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time

I don't know Z-man, one of the hits against most floorless coasters is that they're not intense enough. Although I haven't seen any layout yet, my guess is that this one will be tighter and more compact. Therefore I think it just might be most intense than Medusa. Just my opinion.

It's Consign who makes the safety systems for B & M, and they does also make systems for other companies as well.  And yes, Consign AG has never had an accidant on any of their systems.

DWeaver, you can view layout plans here (I need to use IE, Netscape won't display this page). I'm just stating that B&M has never built a sitdown or floorless this small, so one would think it would be something else. Just following the trend.

Consign makes the controls for B&M and GCI.  They use 2 separate PLCs that have to agree or everything shutsdown. However, just as improtant is have code that is correct.  Of course the failure on SROS at SFNE was strictly mechanical.

For those who are bound to complain that this coaster is "too small", keep in mind that we are spoiled by the hypercoaster boom. 120ft really isn't that small at all, and given that it will share space with the 221ft monster that is Superman, this is a major step foward for SFNE.

No, 120 ft isn't too small, but 2600' is pretty short...

This new coaster should go a long way toward dispersing the crowds around the park. The only wish I have is that it can accomodate 3 trains for better capacity, but that doesn't look too promising with a length under 3000 feet and without the appearance of a midcourse brake.

Isn't this the same coaster that there was a big speculation thread about a month ago speculating on whether it was a stand up, or a floorless?

 

I seem to remember that most Buzzers here were pretty split down the middle on this one.  I think Jeff leaned towards the floorless variety, but something about the interlocking corkscrews caused the most kink in the plans...

I remember reading something about Krakens train going into Extra Train station whn some guy was on it. I think he dot decapitated :( that's sad

If its B&M, its good in my book.  This will only be a 2 train operation since you can see where the storage track will be from those plans that were posted and there are only spots for 2 trains.

This is awesome, SFNE has it finally approved.  This is going to be great even though it is not as tall and long as other B&M coasters.

B&M designs are awesome!!!!!  I hope its a floorless.  2,700 feet is really short.  I wish it was longer.

yeah well the most intense B&M I"ve ever ridden was BTR.  Let  me tell you that the more compact a B&M is, the more intense they seem to be.  However, if that straight section of track is a zero g-roll I'm gonna be one happy camper.

Sounds like an inverted.  Since it doesn't sound like anybody is talking about an inverted, is that just bad writing on the website's fault?  I really don't know much about this coaster.
