Orlando parks battle head to head with Christian concert events

I believe its a great thing that both parks have given attention to the Christian crowd. Just like everyone else, Christians have the right to listen what we want even if it is at an amusement park.
It is sad, however, whenever there is a Christian event, people seem to complaint and think its is not appropiate to have it at a place like an amusement park. It is also sad to hear discomfort about having Christians (and our music) at Disney or Universal, however, these same people have no discomfort on having homosexuals, racist or any other kind of organization at these places.

and we still have Christian Concerts at big places like Disney and Universal.

The problem with Christain music in amuesment parks is that its like having a Jesus festival. Most patrons on a regular day are Christains, so to think people dont like Christains at an amuesment park is pretty stupid(Julio mau). I read the article in Newsweek and seeing and hearing that in a park would make me uncomfortable. They have mass prayer before some bands start their set. It isn't the problem with really the music, but more the crowd and the bands.

People have been arguing over religion for years. It will never stop. So why not put your efforts into practicing what you preach, regardless of what you believe. My only issue with Christians with a capital "C" is their inability to accept everyone for who are what they are. Gay, straight, green, blue, believer or non-believer. Intolerance give Christian's a bad name. Christian bashing doesn't help either. Faith is believing in something that cannot be tangibly proven. Religion fits the bill.

Chill out and enjoy the rides, the music, and life in general. It's too short to worry about what other think or do.

CoasterDad64 is right...to each his own. We need to give everyone their right to believe what they want. For those that wish to participate in these park events, great! It's also good to see parks benefit from both good attendance AND great music at the same time. There's something about concerts at a park.

Too damn crowded!

It's funny how people associate absolutes with things. On one hand, we have a member who thinks that Christianity is strictly about telling people they're going to hell (which might be true for some denominations or zealots in any religion), and on the other hand we have people who think "godless" people are anti-religion. Can't anything be down the middle these days?

Jeremy: It's news-worthy because it's about theme parks. If I found an article about the same situations for the DC-area parks you'd see it here.

I can't say that I like christian music much, in fact the simple idea of it makes me want to be sick in the bin, but, having said that, it has to be better then what Seaworld on the Gold Coast did: they had a spice girls tribute band. I'll go with Christian music anyday

Man oh man- I can't believe people are debating this. Like was said above, it's on one stage in a corner of the park. Nobody's forcing anyone to do anything. If it bothers people that it's there, then you really have too much time on your hands. Isn't there something better to rag about in this world?

Anyways, I'm going to go with the first positive statement and say if you don't want to hear it, don't listen to it. Like someone said earlier, it's not like every speaker in the park is going to be tuned to their music. A lot of parks have rock/pop bands play. They also have jazz bands, regular bands, orchestra (sp?), and everything else. I think it makes the parks look good that they are also having Christian bands play.

It will make the park look good that they are pleasing everyone with their own music interest. And that's what the park wants.

When I go to a park on a day I know there is some type of religious festival going on, I always make sure I wear my "W.W.S.D?" (What Would Satan Do) T-shirt.

Impulse, I don't care for Christian music either, nor do I care for the kind of music you listen to. I just find it hard to believe parks are going to play your kind of music because of it's depressing nature. Christian music is not depressing (although some of the songs are really bad), and parks want you to have a good time. Christian music is not the only way to make folks happy, it's just that it works well.

Well, he is sort of bringing up a bigger issue: free will. God gave us free will so that when we choose to believe in Him, it has more value to Him than if he said "YOU WILL OBEY" then enforced it (hence "Godbots", doing his will with no choice). Think about it, if you had kids who freely obeyed you, wouldn't it mean more than if you had to punish them to get them to obey?
