Six Flags to keep Sea World Ohio a marine park

LOL! And people think park officials don't comb through these coaster sites. They seem to almost be directly answering back to some of the skeptics from this site. This should at least put to rest some of the outrageous comments about what Six Flags would do to the park, and why Busch chose to get out. I wish them luck...

Still Sounds like no Killer Whale Though, the Cleveland Zoo has all those other species. They expect to atract people to the park with a ski show?

No Zoning Regulations! If SFO can afford a $110 million plot of land, they should be able to afford a 350 Ft. Giga.

No, I figure they expect to attract people with huge coasters, as always. Marine World is great in that you get both, but don't be fooled, it's still a thrill park. But Marine World is also careful not to build coasters near the animals. I would hope SFO follows that trend. Besides, it's my belief that innocent whales do not belong in some theme park prison anyway. But that's another topic.

Well, I said earlier on the forum section that the park will be dismantled. My sources are reliable, but I really hope to be wrong. But the honest truth is that Sea World was a world known branded product. Any change will be noticeable. Period. Everyone is missing the point. Taking Darien Lake, with was a fairly new regional park and camping resort and slapping a SF logo above the gate is one thing, people still show up, but changing what was once the largest marine life park in the world when HBJ and Shamu left the friendly confines of Mission Bay 30 years ago is a new ballgame.

I really hope people give this place a chance, animal care does not suffer, and the place is kept clean, but if it falters, SF should be proud
of themselves and give themselves a pat on the back. Sea World means quality entertainment, great food, themed gift shops, exotic attractions, and family fun. Six Flags, ???????.

I don't buy the press release. I still think the park will be gutted over time, joined with SFO, creating one big ride park. Since both parks sit in different townships and SFO is restricted in height, Sea World was not. But Sea World was not allowed by contract to build rides. So look for some huge rides to be put in the park formerly known as Sea World.

Shamu was a icon. He won't be replaced and can't anyways. So what's going to bring in the crowds...new dolphins and penguins?... adding walruses?...Nope. The answer...rides.

I can totally agree with everyone on the topic of Shamu, not being able to be replaced. The whale was the backbone of the park and nothing could replace it except another whale. Therefore forget the statements about "just marine life" A behemoth coaster could make its debut sooner than you think. Also when Six Flags purchased Geauga Lake added 4 coasters, waterpark, kidsland etc etc attendance increased 42%. Sea World attendance took a nose dive this year with Shamu, If they don't add any rides they will be making a big mistake. Because now with no main attraction the park formerly known as SeaWorld and its purchase could be a bogus deal. I look forward to seeing increased amounts of coasters and rides, because all that land and no rides it just doesn't seem like Six Flags. With no zoning restrictions I look forward to a 200-300 ft coaster, A possible Superman: The Escape coaster and a host of other attractions. Keeping the same arrangement is not worth $110 million, and if they do they will truly pay for it in attendance decreases which means no profit. -------------

I think in the long run, SFO will work itself out in this developement, but I doubt a hyper/giga is the immediate answer that everyone thinks it is. The first order of business would be a system to connect the two parks with some kind of transportation system. Walking around the lake would be quite tiring all the time. I suspect a passenger boating system might be setup first (or some other form of transportation to cut across the lake). The big problem here is the water shows that they choose to run in the ampetheater. Once they get that kink worked out, then new rides might populate SFOMW, IMO.

Sooo...SFO is allowed to buid rides over at Sea World,wright?And how tall is the height limit in Aurora?

I think there is more than an intention to build more coasters behind the Six Flags acquisition of Sea World Ohio. I truly believe the Six Flags wants to turn SFO into a larger, more-complete entertainment center. SF has invested so much in the park in just a few years, and while much of the investment has been in coasters, I believe the park will not become another Cedar Point. If anything, I would expect to see hotels, shopping, and perhaps even other forms of entertainment at SFO in upcoming seasons, not a switch to all rides.

Is SFO now a complete circle around the lake or is there still land there they don't own?

They needed a zoning approval for the 180 feet of S:UE.. I don't see a 350 foot giga anywhere in thier future. The locals are touchy about thier zoning not to mention a few people I know who live there are still a little upset about SF taking over thier 'neighborhood' park.

I know this is ridiculous but wouldn't it be cool if they had a coaster they went through a clear tunnel in a water tank filled with dolphins and whales, sharks.

How about this one: the first 180 feet of the giga are in Six Flags Ohio, then the rest of the lift goes into the Sea World Property. Just kidding. I can't see a reason why Six Flags would lie about adding rides to the Sea World property!

When I first read that SF took over SWO, I thought, "Hmm wouldn't it be cool if the only way to get to the other side of the park was via transport system or LIM coaster that was tunneled underwater and you could see all the sea life around you because the tunnel was clear?" It just shows you what our minds can do in the "off season"! :)

I told you this was stupid. they cant even build a tall coaster how stupid. how is the park going to be able to compete. CP has magnum and millennium , SFO is not going to be able to compete.

Look for a B&M at CP this year

The SWO side of the lake has NO height restrictions at all. All the height restristions are in Bainbrigde township. Absolutly none of the SWO side is in Bainbridge. So a giga or S:TE clone is extremly possible now.

Don't mess with the X

The Seaworld part of the park which is 90 acers probally will not get new rides but the sw property that is unused like behing grizzly run could be. Grizzly run was already half demolished.
