There may be a bunch of upset people if they booked there vacation at that time.

I would assume if a company had bought the park out, they would also have struck a deal with the resorts, like what Longaberger use to do.

Plus I think its safe to say that the resorts would have been told that the park was closed to the public that day, so rooms were not booked to visit the park. I am sure if you tried to book a room, they would either not let you or make sure you KNEW that the park was closed for a private event on the 6th.

But you should still be able to stay Friday night for those visiting the park on Friday. And likewise on Saturday night for those visiting the park on Sunday.

Why else would you stay at those overpriced hotels unless you were going to get into the park? If I had a vacation booked that weekend I would be cancelling. Oh wait you can't without a cancellation fee.

People may have already booked the room before they announced the buyout. I sure hope that the park tries to contact these people.

But if so, I bet that amount would be small. Small enough that they could contact those people to let them know.

OR

If the buyout was made after people had booked rooms, a deal could have been made with "X" company that those who already booked a room will be allowed into the park.

I think Progressive has the park for a buyout they usually do it at Geauga Lake but since its closed it's now at Cedar Point.

Chances are it is the Cleveland Clinic, They bought out Geauga Lake every year. They need somewhere else to go this year for company outings.

I believe it is Six Flags.. so they can see their missing the boat..

Well, for one, Resorts hasn't announced pricing for 2008 yet. They do take reservations before prices are announced, but the marketing doesn't start until then. There might be some folks who have booked July 4th, but I'd be surprised if too many people ran right out to book the weekend after Labor Day.

If you did, though, you can avoid the cancellation penalty by rebooking to a different date. At least, this was true in years past.

The resorts website isn't accepting any reservations yet. So unless they accept them over the phone, I don't think we have to worry about upset resorts guests.

They do take reservations over the phone. You put last year's rate down as your deposit, IIRC, until this year's rates are released.

I know that castaway bay is taking reservations online, but that's because of the waterpark. Interesting that castaway is closed on tues and wednsday this time of year.

The Cleveland Clinic actually never bought out the park for an exclusive event. They just bought tickets to the park.

Yes they are. Before I posted about the cancellation fee I checked to see if reservations were available that date to begin with. It does seem however that reservations are now unavailable the weekend of the 6th. I still think that the $50 cancellation fee is ridiculous considering most hotels let you cancel outside of 72 hours without a penalty. *** Edited 2/10/2008 3:02:01 PM UTC by mulfdog***
