2007 Steel Coaster Poll

In case anyone doesn't know, Coaster Fanatics have a poll helper that makes it very easy:

Still a lot of work. I was crusing right along and then WHAM... Step 3 hit me. :)

If it helps people vote, then that's cool. But having done the old-skool text ballot for years now, I find the online voting helpers are actually more time consuming and difficult to use.

Well frick, if I had known about the coasterfanatics thing I would have bothered to vote in the wooden poll, too.

Well, I hate to admit it, but CP should clean up in this poll. My park only has one shot at making a list and that is El Toro.

El Toro has already been covered in the wooden coaster poll. Even still, there's not such thing as having a shot at making the list - coasters are ranked as long as they have enough votes. SFGAdv had 4 steel coasters in the top 100 last year, not shabby at all I'd say.

MF is all the way down at #6?.... and Nitro is only one behind? Nitro along with a few in the top five do not deserve to be in the top 20 or 30.
Something is wrong with the way they tally the results.

Well, I guess we all can't be coaster experts by nature.

That must have been 2006's results, because the polls just opened for 2007.

I used the web form this year and it definitely helped me get my thoughts in order by being able to drag the names up and down the list. But I didn't like not being able to rank some of them equally. I think next year I'll use the web form to sort things out and then when I'm satisfied with the order I'll copy it onto an email ballot.

Once you use the Coaster Fanatics system to create your ballot, then you should store it. I'd imagine you'll feel the same about many of the coasters and only need to make a few changes. That's usually easier than creating a new one each year.

Why the heck did they put knoebels kiddie coaster on the poll that is a joke.

The coaster fanatic site is nice, but it's not entirely fair though. For Six Flags Over Texas, they have Shockwave, Mine Train, Titan, and Mr. Freeze. They are missing a number of great rides in my opinion other than those. Also, for part number 3, the places keep on reverting back to where I put them. Oh, well. It's better than that long ballot.

Maybe something is wrong with you thinking that everyone else should have the same opinion as you. Have you been on all of these coasters that are making the top 5, 10, 20, and 30?

I seriously doubt it. Even if you have, you are one person with an opinion.

Do you only go to movies that movie critics like? Do you only like movies that movie critics give 4 stars?

I dont want people to have the same opinion as me. I am a big fan of diverse opinions. However, I remember someone saying that people in the coaster community are biased towards CP and being from New Jersey I didnt know or care if this was true. Now that I have taken a greater interest in the coaster world I have noticed that this is quite true.
Nemesis is not even close to as good as Raptor, let alone MF. It seems that polls and forums go out of their way to ignore the greatness of CP. It is a joke. I have rode Expedition G-force and it was a pretty good coaster, but pales in comparison to MF. What a joke!

Translation: I'm all in favor of different opinions, so long as they're the same as mine.

B:TR - covered as a group with all B:TR clones
Flashback - covered with all Vekoma boomerangs
Judge Roy - covered in the wooden poll
La Vibora - grouped with all Intamin Bobsleds
Mine Train - in the poll
Mini mine train - is this one of the missing great rides you're thinking of?
Mr. Freeze - in the poll
Runaway Mountain - in the poll

Texas Giant - woodie
Titan - in the poll
Canyon Blaster - production model kiddie coaster

When High Speed Thrill Coaster is run at full speed it's actually tons of fun and has been one of the most beloved coasters by enthusiasts since I can remember. Considering it's a very unique coaster and it ranked #255 out of 337 coasters last year I see no reason it wouldn't be included. *** Edited 1/28/2008 2:35:49 PM UTC by matt.***

So of all the possible options, you're choosing to believe that all 400-500 people who voted last year got together and consciously decided to vote down the CP coasters?
