J2 is now... Puma!

Then we go back to the question of why parks bother to name (or re-name) a coaster at all. Why not just use generic names (Roller Coaster)? Why bother to rename J2?

Is it all just for selling merchendise? Or is there more to it than that?

So, with all these new names for the ride, can't we just mash them together and call it "Punami"?

:-D

Elephant (He's a humble creature. Again, he's not that exciting.) http://www.flickr.com/photos/omarjunior/135225585/

Puma (He looks like he's going to eat you.)http://www.flickr.com/photos/12487718@N04/2090668896/

Raptor (He's going to bite your head off.)

Mantis (He's in control, and he might pounce on you.)

I think Thunderhawk, Hydra, Sheikra, Gwazi, Steel Force, Roar, Scream!, Double Loop, Dominator, Titan, and Kumba are the worst names for coasters. *** Edited 1/11/2008 12:38:40 AM UTC by Spinout***

They renamed the ride after a brand of sneaker?

And would that be an African or Indian elephant?

Personally I prefer Chuck Taylor: The Ride, but Puma will do and is certainly a much better name than J2.

What if they did it like Apple operating systems of OS X (ten)? Puma and Lima were the original code names of the first two versions of OS X before they started putting the name on the box.

So maybe in a few years we'll see Jaguar, then Panther, then Tiger, then Leopard. They should try for some type of tie-in:)

My new coaster named "Closed Today" will blow away your Xtreme Elephant Adventure!

Just as soon as I figure out why no one is getting in line for it.

Idiot! Gosh!

Anyway, would you be more inclined to buy chips that were labeled chips, or Lay's Extra Crunchy Potatoey Wafers of Goodness?

I guess that's a loaded question, but companies wouldn't spend so much developing fancy names unless they got some ROI.
