S:ROS at SFA are absolutely hillarious, and even though it's not really a crew...one of the girls who works the Nitro photo booth, Amanda, was really awesome.

I thought the guy who ran the Comet at waldameer was really fun. He enjoyed pulling the big old-fashioned brake stick, and he high-fived all the passangers as the train was leaving the station.

Paramount's Carowinds Top Gun Saddam Hussein (sp?)forever!! Hehe, if you have ever been on Top Gun in the morning then you have seen him. He has been there ever since the coaster opened in 99. The early morning ERT crew is great.

I generally think that on rides that don't get much attention they'd be the best. The ops would not be as stressed and acting funnier.

This year's Gwazi crew ROCKS!! They encourage riders to stay on (when there's no line) and they barely touch lap bars to check them. A few of them yell and shout and get everybody excited before the trains leave. They make the ride considerably more fun.

I loved the Raptor crew when I visited Cedar Point. They would always come up with some clever ways to change the scripted speech. For example:

"Enjoy the rest of your day here at Cedar Point, America's roller skate."

"Thank you for visiting Cedar Point where every day's a fun day, unless of course you work here."

Riding several times in a row and hearing a different variation on the speech was really great.

Welp, I love the Raptor ops....
Ive talked to some people i know involved at Cp and for what i know its an 'honor' mor or less to be picked for the raptor crew for any given summer. They are entertaining and inventive. they keep the line moving and have 3 cars running most of the time(their choice or not). Line jumpers--- haha they watch for them from over theedge often!!! i love watching jumpers gt kicked out of line!!!! especially when they try to make excuses

I'm an op at an Austrlian park, I was just wondering generally in the U.S do op's work at the one ride all the time or do they rotate between rides several times a day?
At my park we used to swap hourly now we swap three times a day. I think if the op's are swapped around there less bored thus don't lose concentration, effiency, cheerfulness etc

Never really thought of this much, but...

August 1999: The ops on Twiser and Pheonix at Knoebels were great.

May 2000: The op (the only op) on Leap the Dips at Lakemont. The park was so empty that I think he was just glad to have someone ride so he would have someone to talk to. Also at Lakemont, the op on the "Octopus". He was laughing so much at me and my wife (then fiance) spinning and laughing that I think he enjoyed the ride more than we did.

August 2000: the op on the "Twister" (flat ride, not a coaster) at Williams Grove. Just as we thought the ride was stopping, it would speed up and send us spinning around very quickly. This happened time and time again. We then saw the ride op's hand on the controls, slowing us down and then speeding us up to get maximum spin. When we got off this ride, my wife couldn't walk straight! The ride op gave an evil grin and said, "Come back again... we're open 'til 6."

I love the ride ops at Holiday World, they are the best! At SFMM, they don't say much, but they do move pretty fast, except on Riddler's Revenge of course.

Thats easy, It would have to be Kumba's Ride Ops, they are amazing.
I went to BGT 2 years ago, and they were the best ride crew I had ever seen. They were running a 3 train operation(and Yes it does happen for people who think it dosnt) and the way they got the trains in and out of the station quickly and easily was excellent. an example follows

Now One Train had just left the station, The one waiting on the brakes then came in. Everyone gets out, and the new people get in the train, and believe it or not, the train was loaded and ready to go when the train that just left reached the diving loop. AMAZING. Talk about SPEED.
Also with the 3 train operation, the ride was walk on all day and the park was fairly crowded too. The Ride Ops were also having a laugh with people and generally having a lot of fun.

If there was ever a reward for Best Ride Crew at a park, Kumba's Ride Op's would easily win it;)

Well, I wouldn't saw that this crew is the best. IMO a crew should do there job and have fun at the same time. All the crew I have worked on in the past were great except for one, but that's another story. Everyone made sure that guests were safe and still had a blast running the ride.

As a ride op, it is your duty to make sure that every guest is secured in the ride as it is your responsibility.

It depends on what the parks Operation department decides. Some parks do it that way, and some do not. Which ones?.....I don't know that.

Vertigo, a skycoaster at Oakwood in Wales. The ride op's on that ride were absolutely hysterical, as I had never been on a skycoaster he was taking the @~?) out of me so I returned fire and had a great laugh. It made the day just that little bit better, so much that just before the end I went back to see them and had another good laugh with them!

At Hersheypark, the ride ops are given ride groups that are the various sections of the park (ex. Minetown is a ride group) and from there the ops are rotated between rides in the group. Usually it is a kiddie ride one day and then an adult ride the next and so on. Hope this helps.

Any ride op who doesn't make you run around when there is no one waiting is okay in my book.

I think that the Scream Machine @ SFGAdv has the greatest crew of all! That operator has a great anouncing voice and is very funny. Plus he really knows how to handle break downs!!
