Help Conneaut open this year.

This is the story that mentions liquidation.

I hope it doesn't come to that.

Not very good news.

Seriously... what is there to liquidate? I doubt any of the rides would sell for any notable amount. And if the land can't be sold, why not help the park? Surely the park opened would be better than letting the site continue to stand vacant. And by the time the matter of the land is resolved, we might all be dead.

I know Cedar Point has their eye on the Tumble Bug!

This sucks!

I don't there is much to liquidate either. I see any of the rides fetching much. The exception being the Tumble Bug.

I feel sorry for the motel owners around there, that undoubtedly were booked solid for this weekend for the Do-Wop thing. (believe it or not, they traditionally sell-out from fri to sunday.)

I wonder what the Camperland seasonals are gonna say about this? They pay in advance and most set-up two weeks ago.

This is truly sad news.

Why do you say that? Is there a Cedar Fair park that has one and needs parts?

Knoebels could take it off their hands:)

Well, if CP decided to put in a 'ClassicWorld' area, they could add the Tumble Bug next to the American Racing Derby. I'd rather see it there than end up like Chippewa's did.

I hope either Knoebels or Lake Compounce gets the Bug if CLP closes. Either of these parks would be a great place for it rather than some big chain park.

As for Fright Zone, I would like to see that go to Idlewild, Lakemont, or DelGrossos. Waldameer would have been a good place for such a ride except that they already have a good Tracey darkride, so they don't need another one.

Idlewild could use a midsize wooden coaster so they should consider either relocating or building a replica of Blue Streak there. It would go so well in this wooded park. Keep the Vettel train there and use the NAD train as a backup for KWs Thunderbolt in the future.

2008 will be a tough year for CLP to attempt to reopen. Waldermeer will be getting all of that hoopla with the opening of Ravine Flyer 2.

IMO, I think the increased traffic to Waldameer will increase the chance of improved traffic for CLP.

Who cares where they relocate rides, the big question is if CLP closes, where do they relocate "Meth Lab Central?" :)

I absolutely *love* the way Arthur thinks about this kind of stuff. Any ride that's sitting idle is NOT entertaining the people - and that's what they're BUILT for!

How SO?

And CF better not purchase the TUmble Bug! The last thing we need is them to modify if with seat belts and OSTR's! Kennywood Entertainment should purchase it and install it in Idlewild.

LC would be a better place for the Bug if KWE buys it.

Much of the emphasis on LC in 2009 and 2010 is going to be on the waterpark so a flat of some kind would be welcome to keep the landlubbers happy during that period. In addition, with both bugs, KWE could have parts made for both at the same time which would be more cost effective.

My own hope, however is that Knoebels gets it. It's a perfect addition to a park that prides itself with acquiring vintage rides from defunct parks and giving them a new home.

I like the suggestions for the Turtle, Fright Zone and the Blue Streak. I hope this can fit with KW plans and budget.

Losing the Blue Streak is not so painful knowing the Ravine Flyer Two is being constructed.

The only possible salvation for CLP is for the land sale to be appealed. The ultimate irony is that if public access is the issue then when the Park assets are gone the likelyhood of the private land being sold off in its entirety is much much better and public access will be lost along with a big tourist draw.

Conneaut will essentially be a private lake community. Must be what they want.

If Waldameer would have drawn people to CLP because it is in the vicinity, it would have happened by now.

13 years of the "Is it going to open or not" has been rather exhausting for the community of Meadville.

Sad, but exhausting.

I agree.
If it just sits there rotting, they'll have a Chippewa Lake on thier hands. Sad thing is, many of the summer homes around Conneaut are pretty rundown, and in some cases, collapsing altogether.

Regarding increased traffic: Although the "enthusiast" population is a sliver of the GP, ya KNOW they'll be making the trip to Waldameer. CLP is not far away even for the curious to check it out.

I think CLP should have at least opened for the festival they had planned with or without rides and then made a future decision afterward. If this weekend is as popular as I've heard, it would have given them a good jumpstart. Now...

That's the ting, though. They had enough money for the bands, but nothing else. No food, no drinks, no rides. Who wants to go to an amusement park on a hot day and discover that there's nothing to drink?
