News For Alabama Adventure fka Visionland!!!

Here's the latest on Alabama Adventure which is formerly known as Visionland:

I having always thought of going to Alabama Adventure on my way to my cousins house in TN but, nothing has ever really seemed appealing there, though if they add another decent coaster I think I will stop by, but it sounds like good news for the park.

Not exactly, though I would love to see one of those, especially the kind where your butt presses the button and it flips.

It will simply be an Enterprise type ride.

I'd be happy with one of them at my park (Adventureland, IA).

When I was there several years ago, they had an enterprise already, a portable if I remember correctly. Did that get removed?

The Enterprise was replaced by the Round Up. Now the tables are being turned on the Round Up with its removal and the Enterprise coming back to its former location. It will be named Vertigo.

Rampage is worth the price of admission alone.

Good to hear this about AA. The one thing I would most like to see happen is for the smaller patks to find their place and to thrive. Parks like Alabama Adventure, Adventureland, Lake Winnie, Indiana Beach, Beech Bend, Cliffs, Silverwood, Lake Compounce, Waldameer, Seabreeze, Martins Fantasy Island, etc. have a special place and are an important part of the amusement scene for many of us. It has to feel bad when parks like Libertyland, Miracle Strip, and Whalom closed.

This place could really use "Spinning coaster 1"... :)

One of the greatest kick-ass wooden coasters out there isn't enough? I'd rather ride rampage a few times and go home than go to some larger parks with multiple so-so coasters.

Yeah, I kind of wish they waited on bringing in Zoomerang so they could get a better steel coaster. Oh well, hopefully in '08 when the park celebrates its 10th Year Anniversary.

I agree w/ Peabody. The Rampage alone is worth the price of admission at AA. Especially when it was new. The maintenance crew has just done a so so job keeping the ride smooth. They need to go to HW for a ride maintenance class.

Rampage received some track work during the off season. The red "fire" train is also back after its rehab.

That's some great news, Baritone, I haven't been on the Rampage in 2 seasons (since 2005). I will definitely be there to ride this summer.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that post. Rampage is one of the best wood coasters around- going to Alabama to ride that is just as crazy as going to Indiana to ride Raven!

Yeah, but HW has The Voyage & The Legend for all you wooden coaster junkies.

Not sure when, if ever, AA will get another woodie in the league with or better than Rampage, but I think HW is a perfect example of maintaining what you have and the rest will take care of itself.

That's exactly my point. Alabama has a great wood coaster so why would anyone that loves coasters want to avoid it?

Because These people are spoiled by the bigger parks with more coasters, who got an earlier start in history. I always wondered how big an attraction would Alabama be if they weren't so afraid of taking some risks and build great parks with great rides, instead of relying just on Football, fishing, hunting and other hobbies as the only big, recreational activities.
