A while back there have been some strong rumors about an Arrow freefall shuttle coaster planned for the Stratosphere that would be 700 feet tall and features 64 passsenger trains and that it would cross the Strip. What is the latest? It has been so quiet! I am thinking about taking a trip there next year!

Don't hold your breath, I live here in Las Vegas and in a single trip to the tower I recived 3 ENTIRELY difrent stories 2 from elevator opps and 1 from a Big Shot Ride Opp, we do not currently have the technology to create a ride like this that would be safe. IMO Stratosphere's playin us all for fools...

I work in the electrical industry in Utah and have some inside info for you guys. My company, square D, calls on Arrow so we got some info on upcoming projects. They have engineers in Minnesota and Japan for upcoming , but yet unannounced (4th dimension) projects. THe Las Vegas rumor is not a rumor as I saw a mock up model of the new ride. Let's just say it will blow away any other ride on the strip. It is probably still a year away from completion as they are still woring out the braking. No conformed installaions of the Arrobatic as of yet, but Arrow has been sending engineers out left and right to talk to parks about installations, so 2002 might be a big yrar for them
I wouldn't totally rule out another ride for the Tower as they are in the process of expansion around the hotel and tower. Maybe, this new thrill ride will be an addition to the expansion.
Im just wondering one thing. Why would the tower need a ride that seats 64 people? I mean duirng holidays and things rides around town get busy, but a 64 passenger train/car is a bit much! Ill aks my friend at school on monday. She works the rides at the tower.

This is one of the funniest rumors I've ever heard... Just the thought that anyone would even believe it makes me laugh.

This rumor seems a bit far fetched to me, but so did that rumor about Geauga Lake receiving three new coasters in one year, and those utterly dumb rumors about SFO acquiring Sea World Ohio...
I'll bet that with the large number of rumors flying around, the Stratosphere has something planned to add as an attraction, but who knows what it is (Except the Lemon Chill Guy)? If they really are planning a gigantic coaster, I hope they take their time in planning and design so that the ride is fun and exciting, instead of just being a statistic.

Now have any of you belivers considered the G-forces that would be associated with something like this, don't get me wrong I'd love to see it happen but it's just not possible. And you can ask all the employees you want but that doesn't mean they know a thing, managment USALLY doesn't come out too far in advanced with a secret project like this... And another thing, isn't it just kinda weird that you get a diffrent story from a diffrent person evey time. One elevator opp said she saw viedo and that the rade ran in an vacume tube like you see at the bank, come on guys lets use some common sense...

If this rollercoaster is supposed to go down the side of the tower it'll be a long way off half way down because of the way the tower is built unless it is gonna go past vertical - take a look at a picture of it.
Also there is still no rollercoaster that is a perfect vertical drop - Oblivion is only 87 degrees

I'm pretty sure that the physics of it hitting any where near 500mph at 1000-ft. is not possible. I haven't figured it out, but this could possilby be an instance that the train reaches terminal velocity.
