3/30/1903 - Riverview Park (Aurora, Illinois) takes delivery of its carousel.

Wasn't Riverview in Chicago?

If you note, it lists the one you list as Chicago, IL since it's near Aurora, IL. The thing is, next to no one has heard of Aurora, IL but everyone has heard of Chicago, IL.

It's marketing.

Just like Dorney Park -- it's actually in South Whitehall Township, PA. However it lists it's address as "Allentown, PA" because it's a much larger city that people identify with. However, you punch someone out and you'll be hauled away by a South Whitehall Township police officer, not one from Allentown.

However you look closely at Riverview there it said it was 33 miles from Aurora.

The only reason I've heard of Aurora, IL is because of Wayne's World.

Party on, Wayne. :)

It's just like Kennywood being listed as in Pittsburgh when it's actually, IIRC, outside it.

^ True, but again: how many people outside of the enthusiast circle have actually HEARD of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania?

You can see the city from the park, so why not associate with that ginormous metropolis instead of a tiny little town on the other side of the river?

^You can only see the city from the park if you're standing on top of the PittFall, and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one here who's done that.

(Point agreed, though.)

Riverview, the Chicago version, was located about 2 miles due North of my apartment, at Western Ave (2400 West) and Belmont Ave (3200 North), n.w. corner. There is a strip mall at that location now.
