TITAN vs. GOLIATH = Better Station, Queuing, & Ent

I'm here to make a comparison between two nearly identical roller coasters that opened more than a year apart. Now we all know SFoT's Titan is longer than it's California model by 600 FT of track thanks to the additional pre-block helix. But now let's compare their queue line feel and ride entrances. Overall, I think Goliath is the better eye candy of the two. The tropical landscaping is gorgeous and it shades from the hot summer sun as well. And Titan's station is so bare and the roofing is like the cheap aluminum covering used on GhostRider's 'scream shielding tunnel'. But nothing beats walking through the giant letters of a ride to access the queue line ;)

Many of us. For me, the station and queue is an integral part of the coaster experience.

They already DID FINISH the landscaping for Titan. There are a few cacti, tumble weeds, and some other desert like plants here and there. Landscaping would go with theming and that most usually opens along with a coaster. And it honestly doesn't look so good in my eyes. Titan's surroundings looks extremely dry. I guess that's what they were going for! The old west look? Who knows.

Goliath's queve may be better and the station but thats also because when Goliath opened it was the tallest coaster and the first coaster to open in the new millinium!

The line is supposed to be themed to the Big Bend area of Texas. I like the top of the station (painted like the Texas Flag)!

Also, a themed station and que do help, but to me it's not the most important part.

Goliath wins hands down. I can't believe that anyone would say otherwise. Titan's queue really looks like a bare-bones operation, while Goliath's theming is near Disney quality. Actually, compared to California Screamin', I'd say BETTER than Disney...

Yeah and it's also because TITAN jsut opened today!

I'm not going for looks necessarily, I'm going for the ride... Trust me, Titan ain't a one-trick pony either.

1. Theming has nothing to do with breaking records. As far as I know, Deuling Dragons, the best themed coaster in the world broke no major records. Goliath has nice theming because that is the way SFMM planned. Titan doesn't because that is the way SFOT planned.

2. We are all aware that Goliath was the tallest coaster in the world when it opened. We don't need you to inform us of that one, buddy.

Sometimes I get the impression that people will bash ANYTHING to do with SFMM...
The question is about the theming. When you look at the two (an ancient Mayan Temple v. a wood and brick building) there really is no comprasion. One of the things that impressed me the most about Goliath was the high level of theming. MM may have issues with theming (like what exactly Goliath is doing in Colossus Country Fair? Why is there a Panda Express going into Baja Ridge?) but on a coaster to coaster basis, Goliath has some of the best theming I've ever seen on a coaster!

Goliath has a better station, queuing, and entrance.

Goliath has better theming but Titan will be the better ride. I will take the ride, you can have the theming.

I perfer Goliath's que and theming, but SFOT has done a pretty good job with their's as well. Both coasters are really fun and powerful rides. The interesting thing is, Titan's upward helix doesn't bleed as much speed from the coaster as people may think, it still FLIES into the mid-course breaks with as much intensity as Goliath.

And to think I'm on my way to ride Titan right after I finish this post. All this talk about helixes and bleeding only serves to further inhance my excitement.

Rode Titan Friday and tonight and was not too aware of the theming. SFOT is going for a more west texas look to celebrate the 40th aniversay. I can say in a month it will be very hot in the Texas sun with no shade in the cue line. I f have found after my 2 rides it is much more intense at night anyway. This is really a coaster that rocks! It has a real appeal and everyone who has been on it loves it. I am hooked and so glad it is just down the street from my house. Maybe they will expand the cue line with more things. I think they were just trying to get Titan open quickly.
