Will there be a new coaster at Carowinds in Charlotte?

Right now, there haven't been any decisions as to what next year's attraction will be. If there is any at all. I'm sure that there will be a new coaster in the future at some point. The much talked about markers turned out to be nothing as far as future attractions go.

I'll make it clear to you, do you think they may continue with the Star Trek theme or no, it's as easy as ABC Duh!

I have no idea. At the moment I find deciphering your posts a much more compelling mystery, though. :) Maybe I'll have more luck on the next one.

Cedar Fair already annouced shortly after the purchase of Paramount that the licenses for rides like Borg, Top Gun and Drop Zone would be up in 2007. Cedar Fair would rename these rides using licenses that they already own.

They said they'd consider renewing them, though, correct? At least that's what I remember hearing them say.

They could renew them but since Paramounts owns the rights they're not going to do that when they can use their current names that CF owns.

Since the parks will still be named Paramounts next year, I imagine that the licensed properties will remained so named. (This was announced at the coaster event at the park on Saturday.)

I think a hyper goes nicely in Carowinds. Right now, Goliath has a monopoly in in the South. The GP in the south thinks that Goliath is the tallest coaster ever. A hyper at Carowinds could sway people to in between the parks(like myself) to visit Carowinds instead of SFOG.

Ah, but if CF learned anything from GL, removing the licenses is a bad idea. Not only that, but the Paramount Parks put alot of effort into theming, far more so than was apparently put into SFWoA. Thus, I would imagine CF would keep the licenses that have proven so popular and the excellent theming. Why would they get rid of something they could definitely use? Such was not an option at SFWoA, but now they have the chance to keep it, so why not?

Re-read my post. I said a I WASN'T worried about your spelling. (Of course that was because your post was darn near impossible to interpret.) *** Edited 9/21/2006 1:56:58 PM UTC by Peabody***

While I am certainly all for a new coaster of any sort, but especially a hyper being built at Carowinds (especially since I'm moving to a spot about 5 minutes away in a few weeks), history is not on our side. The last new coaster they got was Borg in 2004, and that wasn't even a "new" coaster. Prior to that, the last major coaster they built from scratch was 5 years earlier, when Top Gun debuted in 1999. Last major thrill coaster before that? Hurler in 1994. Sure, there was Super Saturator in 2000 and Ricochet in 2002 and Reptar in 2003, but as far as major thrillers go, there seems to be a trend of one showing up every 5 years. Which, if that's the case (and I certainly hope it's not, I'd love to see one next season), then it would seem that the next one we'll see would likely be 2009.

BORG was new-ish. A coaster from 2000 ain't old. It wasn't as if it was a boomerang from some flop park or something.

Anyway, it's their 35th anniversary and Cedar Fair has stated they'd like to make it a destination park. Nothing says destination like a hyper (or, in my dreams) giga.

That said, wouldn't shock me if it goes either way. Or if we got Geauga's impulse, for that matter.
