DNortham - Rides opening in 2006 were included in the voting and Voyage was voted the #2 wooden coaster, as seen here:

http://www.amusementtoday.com/2006gtawood.html

El Toro did not place in the Top 10.

I have not been to GADV in a while, but a lot of the TR's I read say KK has a choppy launch that does not feel right and it shakes a lot. Then of course you have the OTSR's and brakes on the tophat.

Those, too. ;) Probably doesn't explain a full 18 point different but those things probably didn't help, either.

Kentucky Rumbler didn't place in the Top 10 either, and it is definitely 100 times better than Hades. For that matter, Avalanche is 100 times better than Hades as well.

And how about that carnival park having a mediocre wooden coaster coming in at #5. LET'S HEAR IT FOR CARNIVALS! :)

Then why are Nitro and Apollo's still higher than SFoG's Goliath?

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

Grrr......

Superman is NOT better than MF!

I have been on both countless times and Superman just lacks the intimidation of MF, and the raw speed and intensity, and it just doesn't take your breath away like the Force does.

Fun? Lots.
Best coaster? Hell no.

Don't worry your not alone! SFNE is my homepark and I still rate Superman way below MF. Superman isn't even my number 2. It has ridiculous airtime but it just doesn't have a memorable punch to it, I guess. But yea just like everyone else says it's just a poll.

-Eric: Major Parks: SFNE(homepark), SFA,SFGADV,CP,BGE,BGA,Kennywood, and Sea World: Track record 65 different coasters ridden #1 is Millennium Force #2 is El Toro and than there are all the others

Because more people have ridden Nitro and Apollo, and thusly, those rides got more votes.

And repeat. And repeat. *** Edited 8/28/2006 1:34:03 AM UTC by matt.***

Your kidding me right. Avalanche is good but there is no comparison. Hades ownes Avalanche. First off the ride layout is simply way better and Avalanche is just too rough especially during the second turn. Hades is a smooth high speed coaster, which I think helps its ranking alot.

Avalanche was pretty smooth its first season but it got a bit rough. That is probably because it is the fastest coaster on the planet...pound for pound. I can totally see someone liking Avalanche over Hades. Some days I do too. It just depends what day you ask. The ridiculous air combined with no waits makes it hard to argue with anyone voting for Avalanche.

Give it a year... ;)

Newness does seem to adversely impact rides at bigger parks - "favorite" parks do not suffer similarly. For reference purposes, check Toro, and check Voyage.

See matt.'s comment...well, here, I'll just toss it in: "Because more people have ridden Nitro and Apollo, and thusly, those rides got more votes."

This is why Mitch's poll is favored by those who prefer a more rigorous analysis.

It goes a lot faster than you would think it should for the elements it has. I guess The Voyage does the same thing. I can't think of another coaster that comes close to those two in doing that.

It's not mass-produced, they have fresh ingredients, it costs less, and their birch beer is clear. Like Crystal Pepsi, except it's birch beer.

Also, you don't have to walk a half mile if you want foods of two different ethnicities. :)

It goes as fast as gravity and physics allow and no faster than any other coaster with the exact same size drop.

^I think what he's getting at is the pacing is insanely fast. Almost like the coaster has been put into fast forward.

I agree but that's due to the ride's design. Any coaster with a drop that size followed by bunny hops that small are going to be the same.

Just plain ouch! Some of us can't like, drive to Knoebels on any given weekend.

Birch beer is the "yankee equivalent" of REAL Southern-style sweet tea. And I'm from Jersey, so how weird is that?!? ;)

How long 'til PPP? :)

Since I rode neither El Toro or Voyage in 2006, I can't comment on those. But I think Batman: The Chiller is one of the best steel coasters I've ever ridden. I'd also say that Medusa should have been higher. But hey, it's a poll.
