Congrats to Holiday World for the many awards they received this year!

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

SROS is right where it should have been from its debut. IMO anyone who has ridden Eltoro knows its a top10 woodie
Finally S;ROS is in its rightful spot. I have always believed it was much better than Millennium Force. Even with the modified restraints, i still think it deserves to be number 1!

**Edit-I Think El Toro should be on the top 10 wood coasters. It was amazing! *** Edited 8/27/2006 7:34:06 PM UTC by Goliath Freak***

How long until some cries "Popularity contest" or "biased polls"?

Will it be before or after a fanboy of Mitch's poll hypes up that poll?

Oh wait...I just did.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

It still amazes me that Thunderhead ends up that high. I mean, it's a great ride, but #1?

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

Hey-

Why is Kingda Ka rated 28 and Top Thrill Dragster rated 10? Why/how could Dragster be better than KK? The OSTRs don't make that much of a difference.

Congratulations Holiday World! I am surprise El Toro isn't mentioned at all. Also, Dolly is still number one, wow! Also surprised that Tornado was mentioned at SFGAm.

Many more voters have ridden TTD than KK, and the poll isn't weighted to take that into account.

Well I say the same about Boulderdash and Phoenix.

Both are good, Not great.

YMMV

Helloooo--

El Tori is lucky #13.

We all had a blast -- this is a marvelous industry!

Grrr......

Superman is NOT better than MF!

I have been on both countless times and Superman just lacks the intimidation of MF, and the raw speed and intensity, and it just doesn't take your breath away like the Force does.

Fun? Lots.
Best coaster? Hell no.

The ballots went out about the time that Holiwood nights was happenning. El Toro didn't open til after the ballots were out for a few weeks.

I have not been to GADV in a while, but a lot of the TR's I read say KK has a choppy launch that does not feel right and it shakes a lot. Then of course you have the OTSR's and brakes on the tophat.

Ride of Steel, it can be statistically proven that S:ROS is a better ride than Millennium Force. ;)

Seriously, why get bent out of shape over a poll? I mean, do you need public consensus to validate your favorite? Can a certain movie not be your favorite movie if it's not #1 on the American Film Institute's list of the best 100 movies?

Lists are lists. They shouldn't affect how you feel. They're meant to publicize what are supposed to be the best of the best rides. Heck, Mitch's wooden poll showed me I had to get out to Wisconsin Dells and Holiday World to ride some truly good wood... and this year I went to both. Everyone wins!

Olsor, I'm really not sitting in my house crying lol ;), but I guess I don't understand why S:ROS ranks so well.

Heh, anytime I get off of either S:ROS or MF I think it is my #1. They are both really amazing, but I have to give the nod to S:ROS myself. I was just there last weekend and after a two hour wait, and two years since my last ride it didn't dissapoint at all. I don't dipute the either choice though, they are both completely awesome rides.

Put a few of THOSE airtime hills on Millie, maybe the result is different. Fact is, more people prefer airtime to speed.
Easy explanation for El Toro...

It being a new 2006 ride, and the ballots having picks for the best of 2005, it's just not a contender yet. Next year it'll have it's chance.
