When i go to Cedar Point there big deal and claim to fame is thier coasters. This year six flags MM will be surpassing them and it doesn't seem like they are trying to do anything about it. I know they spent one of the highest prices in history on one coaster but i am sure they made the money back. My opinion is that they want Millenium Force to be the big thing for a while. And i agree, i just think that CP is kind of falling back and if i were them i would jump on it. Millenium Force is my favorite coaster, but now they seem to be in second for a lot. Second highest coaster and second most coasters. It is still one of the greatest parks. I was just pondering on how they are going to deal with thier situation in thier coaster count.

Well I agree with you on one thing, they are one of the best parks, however it is far from the best. Actually it's close to being the third or fourth second highest coaster count, with PKI having 13 and SFGAm having 12. Also most people think that MIllenium Force is just an awesome drop. So what's the big deal of a park with just one drop on one roller coaster.

Cedar Point has 14 unique, original, and great coasters. They are being surpassed by an, IMO, over-eager SFMM this year. I'm sorry, but I still fail to understand Six Flag's logic in cramming 4 coasters into SFMM in two years, and placing 5 in SFWoA in the same time. Other SF properties have been ignored IMO at the expense of these other parks. But, back to the point. Look for Cedar Point to open something new in 2002, and it'll be something interesting...

MF's drop isn't the only reason CP is number one on alot of polls and counts. If you notice, it was #1 before MF (APforce, you beat me too it, you posted while I was typing LoL). Their coasters are original and they are great. Magnum XL-200, Raptor, Mantis are also things that put CP on the map. Corkscrew was a big deal back in 76 too. Plus CP has alot of flat rides which also help a park.
SFMM looks like a great park IMO, but it does'nt look as good as CP in my eyes. However I do want to go there realy bad so I can experience other coasters .

I disagree with the people above's view of Milenium Force. I think the drop is indeed amazing, but the rest of the ride is also incredible. The layout is great and every elements adds to the fact that it is one of the greatest steel rollercoasters ever made. And in my opinion it is the greatest. But, do you remember when MF was not at CP. Most people still thought that it was one of the best parks. I have been on all of there rides and they are all awesome. I have one thing though, and i don't understand what the hype is about Magnum. I have ridden it and i thought it was thrilling and fun. But i was very dissapointed, ACE and NAPHA say that it is the best. I wasn't impressed.

Cedar Point Was Named The Best Amusement Park In The World WAY Before Millennium Force, (The Tallest, Fastest, Steepest Coaster In North America, was EVER Considered. Cedar Point has a long and rich history of tradition and great rides. Currently, they have 14 roller coasters, which may/ may not be one less than SFMM (thus, the Superman debate). Cedar Point has the BEST STEEL COASTER for numerous years now, MAGNUM. The HIGHLY-AWARD-WINNING RAPTOR. MANTIS, MEAN STREAK, and many, many others...so to say that CEDAR POINT has not keep up with others is untrue!
Any idiot park manager can throw coasters up just to say you have the most...*Magic Mountain*...but CEDAR POINT does NOT do that! Instead, they look for what is NEW, INNONOVATIVE, and Creative...not to mention...MASSIVE RECORD-BREAKERS!
As for Millennium Force, if you think the only thrill is the first drop, then you have WITHOUT A DOUBT NOT been on it! Millennium Force has SPEED, THE GREAT 300 FOOT DROP, THE 122 DEGREE- BANKED TURNS, THE SECOND MASSIVE HILL (the "mangum" hill), MORE BANKED TURN...so MF is MUCH more than the massive drop!
Also, Cedar Point's plan of adding new and exciting attractions every other year is brilliant! Cedar Point builds a RECORD BREAKING ride one year, and will then take the following year off for numerous reason...this is a great strategy...Cedar Point will then RE-INVEST profits back into the park, thus coming up with MORE AND MORE great record-breaking rides, and attractions....
So Anyone who think Cedar Point is not still in the "game" as one of the TOP Amusement Park's in the world, has NO idea what they are talking about....

Well I am not trying to start a fight here but CP and SFMM is both of the best parks in the world IMHO. Those to parks is what has been keeping us coaster lovers happy by building coaster after coaster. SFMM/CP is what other parks look up too SFMM/CP is the mother and father of the amusment park industry and all the other parks is their kids trying to grow up and be like mommy and daddy. I am sick of parks dishing out multi-millions of dollars for our enjoyment only to have the people thier trying to please bash the whole project. If a parks builds a coaster/ride that is not in the layout you want it to be in then I say get your own gotdamn millions and build your own gotdamn rollercoaster b/c these parks owe you nothing. I mean my god you people complain if a park builds a coaster you complain if they don't. I am sick of hearing about how the layout of MF sucks IMHO it would of sucked if CP never built it so just be happy that we have a coaster of such porportions in the US. MF at CP was built to fit in the land CP gave Intamin to use and IMHO Intamin took advantage of the land available and made one hail of a ride. SFMM coasters are no where near crammed into the park SFMM is huge and beautiful and can fit many many more coasters before the parks even begins to look crammed IMHO. SFMM and SFWOA is getting the most b/c thier making the most, just like Cedar point of the CF chain gets the most b/c CP makes the most for the chain. You so called enthuiast is giving other coaster lovers a bad name b/c all you so called enthuiast do is complain and bash every park no matter how hard they try to please you. I don't ever want to be consider an enthuiast any more b/c it's starting to make me sick and I don't want to end up like you guys nit picking at every little thing. I just want to have fun and ride coasters and love them for what they are not what they could of been. Oh yeah Subbie18 thanks you so very much for not having the interest in comming to SFMM, it's already way to popular so that mean one less complaining **** in line. I'm pretty sure the CP people feel that way too, so if you don't like it then don't come. You people are so sick I am pretty sure if CP and SFMM built a coaster that connected between both parks you would still have something to complain about. the coaster is 2000 miles long but they could of added another 1000 to it. The drop is 1000 feet but they could of added a tunnel. it's going 500mph but it's not fast enough for me. you people are really sick and you need to get a life or your own millions of dollars to build you own park and i'm sure you'll still have something to complain about even if you build every ride in your park with your own barehands.
Whoa!!!! Calm down!!!! Remember most of us are Americans, it is our duty to our country to complain about things. Complaining is the principle that our country was founded on, not freedom. The idea of freedom is what comes from complaining. Also remember that we would probably be still part of Britan if we didn't complain about not having representation and the high taxes.

Oh just b/c a park addes more then one coaster in a year doesn't mean thier not quailty coasters. I don't see how X and Deja vu are not quailty coasters. Both of them are the first of thier kind rides both of them look great and I just think people are jelous that were getting the most and is going to continue to have the most. You guys can bash CP/SFMM all you want but they both have some high quailty rides and they will continue to get high quailty rides. Anyways be thankful that we have both of these Super parks in the US and that there not in Europe or Asia somewhere.

Geography, friends.... It's all about that. Cedar Point is not going to lose business to SFMM, and vise versa. They're 5 hours away by plane.
I think picking sides and allegiances in this industry is kind of a bad idea. If parks have 15 coasters, (no matter which one it is) I benefit. That's more for me. The higher, faster, loopier coasters that are going in only benefit the riders. When you ride Millennium Force this summer, are you going to sit at the top of the hill thinking "This park sucks... There are only 14 coasters here!"?

since i have been to both parks i will tell you that there is a BIG difference betwwen the two. First magic Mountain has some really bad Employees
E.G. Their lack for safety is really bad. Once a ride op hope over superman to get t the other side just seconds before we luanched.
Two Magic Mountain Does have quality roller coaster. They are not Quanity and not quality which alot of peeps say. In fact Magic Mountain starts Stuff and then SF move the idea all over their chains.
The main difference is thgat the atmosphere is different, Magic mountain you cant walk one foot with out seeing a coaster Cedar Point, you might not see one for ten or twenty.So what i am trying to say is that MM is cramed with coaster, whil CP is more spread out

Well said Olympic, you are totally wrong and have never ridden MF if you think "all it is is a long drop". And that is what makes the park be #1, I don't think so! CP has had 3 of their coasters in the top ten of the country, with two being numbers 1 and 2. Now I havn't been to MM, but I won't make desicions about it until I GO there.
I thought we were above this here at Coasterbuzz. Both sides are saying things that make you look childish. SFMM and CP are so far apart from eachother that it doesnt matter. Read it again "DOESNT MATTER". Stop getting all riled up over something that is so irrelevant that you are going to have stroke over it.

I agree with Rob. People start these topics usually for the sole reason of bashing one park or another. Olympic, please at least do your research before throwing out a bunch of false information. SFMM is not just throwing up coasters for the hell of it. This is a park that is investing millions of dollars in our enjoyment and all you can do is accuse them of throwing up coasters? They could have EASILY sat on their butts for two or three years like most parks do, living off the success of Goliath, but they keep moving, and who benefits, their fans. These type of multi-million dollar installation take years to plan, not to mention a commitment to their fans that most parks can't even touch. I applaud SFMM and wish them well. As for CP? Hey, I love that park as well, visit at least once a year, and they shouldn't be to blame for the goofiness of some of their fans...

And it should be pointed out that SFMM is putting up coasters not to piss off Cedar Point, but to secure their place in a market where Knott's had more peeps at the gate last year and Disney opened a new park. Who can blame them for being a little drastic? They want to own that market, and they appear to be doing a good job trying.

I agree with that jeff, but i anticapated CP to fight back and try to beat MM. Now i think that they are holding out until everybody tries to set records then CP will come back with a record breaking coaster that will blow our minds. MM is having to compete with an agressive market in Cali and there position will definatly rise with thier new rides. ALthough in the minds of me and others, MM shouldn't have to compete with Knott's and Disney, they are an awesome park and i can't wait to ride ther in June. It will be an incredible trip.

Just like Jeffs statement above, CP needs to do the same thing with the competition in the Ohio market. PKI and SFWOA are not parks to brush off. They have the potential to give CP a run for its money. I feel CP is focusing on these 2 parks and not really caring to much about SFMM.
