OSTRs on SFMM Revolution

The cost of deconstructing Psucklone and building something yummy in that spot of land certainly would be a cheaper alternative than working in/around Goliath (and it would shut down my favorite coaster in the park for God-knows-how-long).

Given the wooden coasters at SFMM, I'd almost RATHER they go with a spinning mouse... :(

Yeah me too. I still think unless there's some conscious effort by the park to fix their faded attracitions and *keep* them fixed, they're better off doing what PKI did after 2000. Focus almost exclusively on kiddy and family rides till the end of time.

I sooooo wish so cal had more good wood to offer though, and unfortunately the building of Silver Bullet and Tatsu have dimmed those hopes, possibly for good. :(

I would not say that the Stengel/Intamin prefab woodens are 3-4 millions! A director at Liseberg said that when they said to GCI they were taking Stengel-Intamin for Balder, the GCI guys joked they could build them 3 woodies for the same price!

Well the GCIs are still pretty cheap! El Torro cost around 9 million, and it's HUGE. A woody half that size to replace Psyclone would cost about a half of that. Plus in the long run you'd save money on maintainance costs. Given the choice between the two I'd have to say it would be a toss up.

GG/GCII are more cost-effective in the short run. Based on experience, GCIIs - those with c-punk's trains, anyway - are as easy on the maintenance budget as an SBNO (OK, so I'm exaggerating....SLIGHTLY)...

The Intamins are supposed to be *simpler* to maintain...but if they're any easier than say, Lightning Racer, then something's amiss in Denmark...er, Switzerland.

Can't say I know much about what GG is willing to design in terms of twisters...after one of their "out n backs" ("Hell and Back" in the case of Voyage), they SURE know how to do those...LOL!

Let's not loose hope yet for the Castle Park woodie!

Viper at Astroworld was a Schwarzkopf looper with lap bars and no OTSRs until this year. It's a shame they decided to melt down the coaster and send the trains to Georgia instead of SFMM which desperately could've used them for Revolution.

I'd salivate at the thought of an Intamin woodie at SFMM.

However, I thoroughly respect (and agree with) Mr. Shapiro's family-friendly plan for SFMM among other SF parks.

Maybe in a couple of years... Besides, Tatsu is such a great ride that they should be able to squeeze some good PR from it for a while!

I think SFMM should add a Intamin woodie by the rapid ride.

I forgot about the Houston Viper's trains being sent to Georgia. Yeah, you'd think that really was the perfect opportunity to switch back to lap bars on Revolution. Huh. Maybe Mindbender needed the parts more.

Revolution was not down at all due to the addition of the OTSRs. The first addition was a over the shoulder style seat belt that was added to the trains before the OTSRs were added. They ran for atleast a year like this. Then they added the OTSRs to several of the original fleet of trains. They used to run I believe five or six trains at once on this once GREAT coaster. I think we're down to a fleet of three working trains now.

But to be honest, 3 trains is probably sufficient on this ride. Its not exactly the blockbuster ride in that park anymore, iconic as it may be.
