Nat. Geographic Show - May 29

Did a search on this, didn't see it mentioned anywhere, so...

There's a new show called Supercoasters airing on the Nat. Geographic Channel on May 29 at 8:00pm, 10:00pm, and midnight. It looks like it will cover some general topics, like the effect of g-forces on the human body, modern design techniques for coaster manufactures, coaster wars between parks, etc. There's more info and a video clip at the NGC website:

Anyone else *NOT* have sound on the Supercoaster show (8pm)?

I don't know if it's a local Time Warner thing, but there is no sound. The picture comes in fine and all my other channels appear to be OK.

Naturally, the one channel I want to watch is having technical difficulties...

Is that a yes or a no? I also have surround sound, HD, DVR and all that crap. But the Supercoaster show is still *soundless*.

I have sound on Comcast channel 109 out of the Canton, MI area. Even if you can't hear, watch due to the amazing camera angles.

Woah, coaster on the Golden Gate? Off that huge building? If they didn't allow it in loose Vegas, what about anal retentive "we banned Segways" SF?

I called Time Warner about the sound problem. They suggested I turn *OFF* the SAP setting on my DVR. It's been on for 1 year and I have never had an issue with it but when I turned it off, that fixed the problem. Now, I'm happy!

What in the world does Mike Boodley have up his sleeve now?

The sound was glitchy for me too. It was worst during the Thunderhead and Voyage segments. Coincidentally or not, the sound on "Silence of the Lambs" (HD-Net) right after Supercoasters was also glitchy, but not quite as bad.

In my opinion, the show was a bit uneven. It seemed as though the first hour was a good "Let's highlight what's now hot" type of show - and the stuff they added was saved segments. The military catapult was interesting, as was the in-flight weightlessness.

I don't want to get slammed here for saying this but: what will lure in the General Peeps determines what will be built in the future - and not necessarily the people like us. (which stinks)

The poor girl who was afraid of the indoor coaster will not spend money to go to a park to be terrified.

I don't think any of us are ever afraid of any coaster.

I was impressed that the show mentioned that Ka has gone down a lot.

Even though the show was about stretching the limits, I feel that most parks are going to go after the family dollar before we see 600 foot drops.

I would love a ticket for that airplane though. Very cool.

Get your butt to Russia. Not sure of all the specifics, but I once saw a show (and I believe it was tied into coasters somehow) that mentioned a company in Russia will take you up to 55,000 feet and do parabolic hills. It cost something like five grand.

My fist time on Deja Vu I almost fell out of the back car because I was to skiny and almost fell through the harnes.

Aren't they doing private vomit comit flights out of FLorida now? Didn't that start 2 or 3 years ago?
